Iphone 2.1 upgrade required ?

I am using 2G Iphone with 1.1.3 firmware (jailbroken), has anyone upgraded to 2.1 firmware using pwnage tool ? what are the advantages of the same, is it worth it ? Also what are the sources to get 3rd party apps other than the installer on the phone?
 
ha, i think pretty much everyone on this forum is on 2.1 already

and for the latter part of your qstn, i just have two words... app store
 
Just updated to 2.1...will get the apps from appstore...any suggestions on video converter software, which allows to preview the output before converting, i am currently using Xilisoft
