Hi guys,
I got an iphone 4 with 4.2.1 firmware and BB 03.10.01 from the US (AT&T).
I was trying to jailbreak it get it work with airtel 2g (got the sim cut).

I tried using redsnow as mentioned in the following link

Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, iPod touch 4G with Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 [Guide] | Redmond Pie

it doesnt seem to jailbreak he iphone at all. airtel sim is not catching any signals. itunes says that the sim is not supported :-(
Please give me pointers to a proper guide to jailbreaking the iphone 4.

Regards

bro if you jailbreak the phone, that doesn't mean that any sim will work on it...
jailbreaking helps in installing thirdparty apps and system tweaks, etc...
for unlocking the phone i.e. using it with any service provider, you need to first jailbreak and then install ultrasn0w tool from cydia...
as of now, the unlocking tool i.e. ultrasn0w has not yet been released for your baseband version i.e. 3.10.01...
so please hold on to your horses, the unlock is just round the corner, might be released very soon...
i hope that you now understand that jailbreaking and unlocking are two different things...

what? that means if I import that 199$ iPhone 4 carrier locked version, then I can get it to run on my airtel sim?

Lol! Funny...

@ comp@ddict : No. In order to purchase a 199 USD Iphone, you need to sign a contract, with your US credentials and pay 2 years worth of minimum monthly bill payments. Or if you have a friend in the US who wants an ATnT connection without the Iphone 4, he can sign the contract and sell you the phone, for what ever price he wants.
