iOS iPhone carrier settings update (Airtel 16.1)

What does the new carrier update (Airtel 16.1) do differently for iPhone 5S? The update is getting pushed to my phone and am not sure if I should update it. The last time I did, I lose the ability to go back to EDGE mode. Thanks!

Nothing it did except enable Indian lte on the phone b

That was done in 15.1 itself a few months back.
