Iphone firmware update questions

Now I'm even more confused, because I was assured that it could work on ANY network. Also verizon is a CDMA network as well and they do not have sim cards.

If I were to connect it to verizon, how would I go about that?

my bad, the wikipedia links says Verizon is gsm too. You could just call up the carriers and ask if they support gsm handsets.

I called sprint and they won't "help" to connect any phone without the sprint logo...meaning sold by them of course. Makes sense...they want the money.

Guys, a quick question. I've jailbroken it successfully. But it now shows "No SIM card installed". Is it because I've not unlocked it using ultrasn0w ? Unfortunately I don't have access to wifi right now

If the phone isn't factory unlocked, then you need to install ultrasn0w through Cydia to unlock it.
