I need to know which is a good gps provider here in india.

Have checked out mapmyindia.com. And if possible it should tell the traffic details also.
 
but how do i make google maps work with the gps ?

currently it is working with the signal triangulation with the help of towers.

also even if i forget about traffic details , which one should i go for mapmyindia or satguide ?
 
Which city wil it be used?

If metros, then try nokia maps..totally awesome and they keep updating it(i mean the whole software not just the map):)

EDIT:- My bad, i didnt see you wanted it for the iphone..No nokia maps doesnt work with i phone.

But i had heard somewhere that mapmyindia has the most comprehensive maps.

and will nokia maps run on iphone ?

last but not the least how do i make any map work on the iphone, how do i activate the gps as there is no setting for it currently.

satguide.in They are providers.

SatGuide is the poineers of GPS in India and has data for 200+cities.they also have 1.5 million POIs on their maps giving u many destinations to choose from. They upgarde their maps 4 times in a yr and also the accuracy of details are high from the citizen mapper scheme launched by them. Here ppl can enroll with them onto their website and point-out the various POIs missing on the maps from their locality and earn Rs 5 for each POI notified.
This software works smooth on my phone and i am confident to do long drives between states with SatGuide Maps.:hap2:
 
That is a description copied from the site. And i am guessing you are a PR person form there. 1 thing you haven't told me is that does it support the iphone ?
 
I need GPS map guide support on Iphone in india too :( Would be good if i could just buy the maps load it in my iphone and get turn by turn directions!!
Someone help!!!
 
AFAIK, the turn by turn navigation wont work on iphone here in india and btw gps chip is only on 3G, if someone's using a 2g then its no good other than going through the maps.
 
i know mapmyindia and satnav provide voice by voice/text gps locationing in realtime in india. Any idea if i can embed those maps on the iphone?

That is the answer i was looking for but did'nt get it.

^I dont think you can do that yet ... there are a few voice based navigation apps available, but only for US :(
 
I don't think mapmyindia or satnav will work with iphone.As of now there isn't any app that provides voice based navigation in india.
