i'm (my friend is) looking for an iphone to be used in bombay.

is it better to buy in US or in bombay itself?
either ways, is it safe to unlock?
if unlocked, how about future iphone updates - would they freeze it?
on what carrier would it work in bombay?

Buy it in US since it is substantially cheaper there

Unlocking seems to be pretty simple if u can follow instructions properly and im sure some TE members who have already unlocked it will surely help out..

dont install the update till it has been hacked..

it will work on any GSM network like idea vodafone airtel etc

1 is 4gig one for 16k unlocked
1 is 8gig one for 25k unlocked

i know that there was an update on iphone after it was hacked. but shouldn't now all iphones come with the update that prevents unlocking?
