Pakistan players hurt and angered by snub

The third IPL auction, held in Mumbai on Tuesday, has been overshadowed by a controversy arising from the fact that not a single Pakistani player of the 11 on the auction list - including several of the World Cup-winning team - was picked up. Pakistan's players have reacted with anger and attributed the blackout to politics; the IPL has said it was the franchises' decision and the franchises have explained it on grounds of cricketing strategy or availability during the tournament.

Though the players - including proven Twenty20 performers Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanvir and Umar Gul and emerging talent Mohammed Aamer and Umar Akmal - had been given the go-ahead from the Pakistan government, franchises were said to be wary over whether the strained relations with India would affect their ability to get visas.

I don't see anything wrong in it. In fact the franchises should come in open and say we don't want to support any Pakistani in any way cause after the 26/11 attacks nothing appreciable has been done by the Govt of Pakistan to show their seriousness towards crabbing terrorism. Good job done there. Totally support it.

But in that case, why were they part of the auction in the first place ??

Another Slap On The Face For ‘Aman Ki Asha’ Apologists
January 19, 2010

Sumayya Chawla | PKKH Editorial Team

The great ‘Aman Ki Asha’ inspired love affair between Pakistan and India has just been hit by a bus and chances are that it won’t survive. This came as all of the 11 Pakistani cricketers, most of them from the T20 Worldcup winning side last year were kept out of the third edition of the Indian Premiere League including all-rounder Shahid Afridi who was the highest rated player expected to be the most expensive. This is truly astonishing given that Pakistan is the reigning World Twenty20 champion, and their exclusion devalues the entire competition. What a huge loss for cricket and what utter disappointment for millions of fans. Given that the World Champions are not to be seen in action, it is only logical to say that this makes the IPL anything but ‘World Class’.

Despite the great love story being sold to the people of Pakistan and India by their respective media, there is still not enough love in the world that can hide the hypocrisy and two-facedness that has always characterized India’s dealing with her neighbour. This is just the icing on the cake. It is also very interesting to note that despite the violent attacks on Indian nationals on Australian soil, and the threats issued by the militant Hindu extremist outfit Shiv Sena against Australians playing in India, the Indians were more than happy to have a love-in with the Aussies at IPL. One cannot help but think that this says a lot for the Indian national pride and sense of solidarity with their counterparts being humiliated and abused by the Australians.

Given the threats being issues by Hindu fanatics against foreign players visiting India, it is perhaps a really good thing that Pakistani players are not going to be put in a position where their lives might be at risk from extremist elements and religious fanatics. While the great Bollywood soap opera called ‘Aman ki Asha’ meets an unhappy yet very predictable ending, Pakistanis must now realize that the only ‘goodwill gestures’ they will ever receive from across the border is covert terrorism on its land, caskets of Pakistani prisoners tortured to death in Indian jails for overstaying visas, and poorly disguised threats of war.

I say we give them another few lakhs so they start loving us again!

I say just give them the blueprints to our official 500 and 1000 rupee notes. they can start making our currency and send it to us free.

Aman ki asha my foot. these stupid organizations should be shut down by the govt. :@

Some awesome quotes -
We are the Twenty20 World Champions and for me the attitude of the franchisees was disappointing. I feel bad for the Indian people who I am sure wanted to see us play in the IPL this year,” Afridi said.

This packee, Afridi's brother was gunned down by our security forces in Kashmir for being a terrorist affliated with the harkat-ul-ansar. Are they so shameless that they'll try to make money out of us after killing our brothers, and then claim that Indian people wanted to see them?

“In the end it is the IPL which has lost out because the fact is our players have star value and are the best in T20 cricket,” he added.

LOL, and the amongst the worst in ODI's or test matches. Is he really saying someone will come look for packee cricketers when theres Shane warne, Sachin Tendulkar and co?

LOL, so full of themselves, the reason they were'nt picked was because the teams weren't comfortable with them, not because all of them were biased against Pakistan,lol...good bye packees. You won't be missed. Take care and don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Though I'm still worried, theres always a chance there will be an "Aman ki asha" petition or something to bring back pakistani players...can't put something as stupid as that beyond the reach of these "I'm more secular/liberal than you" crowd..

Well needless to say the second article was from a pakistani daily...

Anyway I am happy that atleast the team owners decided to take a stand, even if the money loving BCCI and IPL management did not. But looking at it, this is way more insulting. Its like being called to a party and going there and then finding out that you are not wanted...way better than not being invited to the party at all.

Not one bit interested in IPL tamasha but yea.. this news came as a half cooked meal.
As switch said, the owners of the teams shd speak up in unison that Pakistan is just making a mockery of the trust India has shown by believing that their judicial system will deliver.

This is the same country who had asked India to stop using the Intl clout to put pressure and had assured to act against the terrorists.

As far as Aman ki Asha goes.. Whom shd India speak to... the willing citizens or bang their heads against the knuckle head Pak Army ??

Oh shit...found another beauty!

The Daily Mail’s findings indicate that the Pakistani cricketers were axed in a rather humiliated manner from the IPL through a premeditated campaign, organized jointly by RAW underworld Mafia wing and Mumbai-based extremist Hindu outfit Shiv Sena while the IPL Chief Lalit Kuma Modi was the key actor of the whole drama and played a major role in not only motivating the bidders to refrain from hiring Pakistani Cricketers but also created a variety of documentary problems and doubts about the participation of Pakistani players in the 3rd IPL

RAW directed its Underworld Mafi Gang, known as Chhot Rajan Gang to start its operation to keep Pakistani cricketers out of the IPL. These findings reveal that in the meantime, RAW also activated its other baby outfit Shiv Sena to launch a parallel ‘crusade against participation of Pakistani cricketers

Shiv Sena operatives set Modi’s home, Anand Bungalow in the upscale Gandhigram Road area of Juhu, close to the ISKCON Temple, in north-west Mumbai ablaze and warned him to come up with some imitate steps to bar Pak cricketers,
:D:D:D:D:D

The Daily Mail’s findings indicate that Lalit Modi has a history of being involved in drug trafficking and fraudulent activities.

ROFLOL!!

Read through this for a good laugh. Theres a ton more in there.

Sooner or later, you'll all realise that the reason IPL did not take Pakistani players was because an Indian RAW agent named Rahul Ramalingam Swamy from Bangalore in Kerala planted lalit modi with drugs and got chota rajan to bribe Preity Zinta to not take any Pakistanis because Bal Thackeray, LK Advani and Narendra Modi were admant that in this hindu rashtra no other organism other than kuffar brahmin hindus who drink cow urine should exist and worship 3280438294 gods should play.

And these idiots are 100% serious when they say all this..ROFL. I mean a bunch of people who think Ajmal Kasab was Amar Singh....wow. No wonder the crackpot's falling apart.

Also, before you try to delete my post and tell me that I'm a hater, just realise that the third last paragraph was intended to make fun of the Pakistani mondset.

^^ Idiots...

And whats the idea behind this Aman ki Asha anyways ..??
How many times will these moronic newspaper keep trying to get some tid bits to keep the sales going ..??
Its the same story all the time.. Toothless India keeps shut and says hey, havent got too many teeth left to loose now.. so lets shake hands on that.. one blast and these very news papers will scream Blue Murder and print stockpiles of hate interviews.
