Hi.

I don not know if this is the right sub forum to post this problem.

My friend has got a Ipod touch 4G 64gb .His son was playing some games on it,he switched of the game and locked the ipod.

but when he tried to switch it on ,it just wouldn't switch on.but when we focused some light onto the screen we could see the

icons.then we realized that there is no problem with the screen and the problem is with the back light.Googled about it and saw

that it was a common occurrence with Ipod touch 4G. So guys have any of you encountered the same and does anybody know

someone who can repair my friend's ipod touch in Bangalore??also any solution and advice from your side guys??

thanks.

i read on apple forums that someone restored the ipod to its default settings and it worked for some time normally. i think there's some bug in some app in ipod that switches off the backlight.

first sync the ipod with itunes n backit up .....if u can afford to loose data then straight go ahead with full restore ......in case of no improvements do a firmware upgrade .....................in direct sunlight in outdoors u should be able see the menu easily .......u can factory reset it easily.

@attrish

Tried it,didn't work out.

guess its a problem with the backlight hardware??

If its a hardware issue then you need to replace the lcd.......and i must tell you, a cheap lcd for iphone 3g costs for about 500 to 900 ...... i guess for an ipod it should be close....( i've replaced my phone's lcd and touch screen twice and its pretty good deal for 500 bucks..... people asks for 3 to 5 k.)

And in worst case problem could be in logic board itself.......and that's not worth a repair.

I googled and found out that the backlight and the lcd and 2 different components on the 4G.

Guess a repair of the logic board is what is required.

but its too costly. around 16k.
