Is Cyber cafe still a profitable business in current scenario?

Where tablets, phablets, etc are more common for daily usage of surfing & downloading..

Me & my friend planning to start a cyber cafe with atleast 12-15 PCs but I doubt will it work in current scenario..

Need advice here..

Create a wifi cafe instead. High speed wifi with a printer/scanner, possibly high end headphones for the users music, maybe one-two pcs for desktop works. you could get some nearby snacks joint to supply your customers with snacks.

Obviously you will need to setup you network with a random username/password ticket system for internet access, but that should be easy enough.

Add Some ps3 consoles for gaming will attract customers
A small Coffee Serving machine if u have a good budget

Depends on location. If you are in a village, it will work like charm.

I am from Mumbai - Andheri west location

How about only gaming zone?
Either console or LAN PC?

If it's near a college, it will work out pretty well. For example all the SVKM colleges.. If u open in that area.. U will have customers every day for the entire day for the entire year..

Well,it depends. If you are opening it near some schools, colleges or offices,it can work pretty well. For ex. we have a cyber cafe near passport office and there are customers all of the time.People visit thereto take print outs, fill up their forms, etc.

Are you talking about cyber cafe or gaming zone?

SVKM colleges - Mithibai.. Right?

I think 3-4 consoles & few PCs for surfing would be fine for me

Now coming to the main conclusion:
Is it still profitable as a partners?
Let's say I put the rates for gaming 50/hour & surfing 15/h... Is it okay?
Do i need to get a license to open gaming zone in that locality?

Nope, not a good business idea. You need to complement it with something else for it to attract footfalls, and perhaps even reach profitability. Gaming, adjoining cafe/bakery, printing/scanning/xerox services, etc...

How can you differentiate? Ask yourself that.

printing/scanning/xerox services, etc...

These items would be there else I wont be able to make a profit.. considering college scenario where students need to get xerox or printout[DOUBLEPOST=1407169915][/DOUBLEPOST]The rent of that location will be on higher side considering busy streets
Also cracked console would do the work or I need to get original consoles where games are pretty expensive

50 is on the higher side...30 is what others charge......

Modded consoles should be good....

Modded consoles would be a problem, when you are doing something at least in public domain please avoid piracy.
And you need photo ID of every person who uses the computer for internet, I had heard of this rule (look around to find more details)

plus your cafe mustn't have furniture like close door kind partition giving person privacy .
you have to keep register for information for each customer for net surfing with his/her ID details , duration of time / date.
you cafe must have CCTV installed .

you have to take permission of local area police station along with Municipal corporation regarding your internet business .

above mentioned are must have things before u start or if some day official found any of those missing u booked for illegal biz .

plus always run with genuine stuff as your biz will attract many frequent OS raids . Keep software to strictly no porn otherwise if police found it you will be booked porn racket .

if you have enough of above all best of luck .

if you looking for 10k profit. its profitable biz,

but if you are targeting profit in the range of 50-60k++, leave the idea, get some new ideas

Original console with OG games will be a lot of expensive
Yes photo ID is compulsory for surfing.. dunno if the same rules applies for gaming.[DOUBLEPOST=1407222676][/DOUBLEPOST]

I am targeting somewhere between 30k (15k per share)

its profitable to start gaming zones like dota 2,cs go if you got users hooked on time they will never leave you plus there would be more :D

Sorry for bumping a year old topic
but this idea is still in my mind.. can't get out of it ;)

Is it still profitable?

Is there any risk with modded consoles where games will be downloaded and installed in HDD?
