Is downloading TV Series Illegal ?

Ok so we all indulge in illegal activity ala torrents with movies,games nall. Basically all ahem stuff.

But does downloading TV series count as illegal downloading as well ?

I mean it does air on the TV so any one can see it as in the max no. of viewers is not limited as in a theater or sorts. Also doesn't the hype of the series with the ppl getting hooked on to the series increase its ratings indirectly ?

I have seen so many ppl who after seeing the series online have gone ahead and bot the DVD box worth thousands :D

So I asketh thou thee questioneth !
 
I guess it is illegal coz the content belongs to someone ( i.e. the channel showing it or the company who made it) and hence it has to be illegal :bleh:
 
Obviously it is.....if viewership on TV goes down, ad companies, which are the main and foremost source of a TV show income, will start pulling plugs.
 
if the dvd isnt available then it can be downloaded --eg top gear episodes.
 
Of course it's illegal.

However most of the tv shows do go online the next day on the channel's website in standard def. Only for Americans though.

Indian tv on the other side is not even worth pirating :p
 
It is illegal. The tv shows are meant to be viewed on tv only since the tv channels pay license fees to get those serials aired on their air time.

It is also illegal to make a backup copy of original tv series dvds you own.
 
Lol you are saying as if you do not want to watch it legally.

There are a couple of ways .

1) Buy the DVD collection when it comes in to a store near you !!

2) Import the DVD collection via the internet.

3) Shift out of India ;)

I know these are not feasible but there are ways.

All said and done I am with you bro ;) There is no possible way of watching the latest episodes legally.

Of course its illegal.. anyway who cares.. just download n watch..

the tv channels in india wil AIR it only months after its actual release..
 
everything on torrents is illegal

basically torrenting is illegal in the first place watever content u may download it will be illegal

If they do some market research and find out the viewership in India they would definitely start airing them on Indian channels or better even start a new dedicated channel ;)

It is illegal to import a dvd collection outside the region it is meant for.
Region 1 dvds (USA) are meant for sale in USA only. So buying them and watching those in India is illegal. :@

But i can buy in USA right ??? I mean if it is for sale in US only and i have someone in US buy for me then that is right ???
After that since i own the DVD it is my discretion as where i see it.

Do you think they care as to where you watch the DVD as long as you pay for it. Once I buy it I can even make backup copies of it and watch on my PC who cares.
