hmm depends on the situation..to some extent its good...u need to be bit self fish and greedy in this world...at the same time .u see to it that u dont cause any harm or trouble for others...

it totally depends on the situation..u just cant say ..if being greedy is good or bad..

Greed is bad.

But a bit of selfishness is good.

You cant be too selfless in this world. If you are, you'll be a failure.

absolutely :hap2:

What's the context ?

this world is more grey than black & white and a simple yes or no is just too...limited an answer.

Greed is only only if you use it with a right motive and it the greed doesnt harm anyone that include yourself.

There is a big difference between the words you guys are talking about

Selfish

Devoted to or caring only for oneself; concerned primarily with one's own interests, benefits, welfare, etc., regardless of others.

Ambition

An earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment

Greed

Excessive or rapacious desire, esp. for wealth or possessions.

While the words Selfish and Ambition does not indicate anything bad as such, greed is associated with too much or excessive desire to pocess something that is not yours through any means. Any excessive desire is generally considered bad.

Just to put it into perspective.

If you do not want to share your wealth with anyone, its selfishness

If you want to earn a lot of wealth and willing to work hard for it, its ambition.

If you what to get hold of someone else's wealth through any means, its greed.

Actually main reason this came up was...
I had an debate with 3 of my friends..
They all believe that greed is good and its essential...
and more importantly money..

I pointed out that no matter how much money you have but if you are not happy then its useless..

Say one earns 20K/month rite now.. He is not happy as he wants more.. Say now he earns 2Lacs/month he still wont be happy as he will still want more..

I even gave the example that its not guranteed that richest person is also happy...

Then my friend argued that if he has more money and they would be able to do all the things that he wants to and which "in turn" will make him happy..
So money is very important.. And so greed is a good thing..:S

I still don't agree with them

So by 'greed' I meant this scenario..

eh but where does question of greed come then?

he's just spending his salary on things that he desires, not doing something excessively out of proportion by hurting others !

so it cant be greed, i call it as day dreaming. :)

"Doing all the things that he wants to do ",Hahaha That will only make him a

A Excellent Good slave of his devil inside..

He can pretend that he is Happy!Only way to get Happy is By

attaining "Peace inside your Brain".

Accumulation of material object only gives Illusion of happiness

Viz cars,house,Girls,etc......

I happen to know few ppls they are damm rich but i pity them that they cann't enjoy Sweets coz he is diabetic.

Lol i have empty pocket so neither can i lol thats Life!

REALITY BITES! :)

Actually he's always crying that his job doesnt pay that well..blah blah...i wish i had more money..more money

So i alaways taunt him "inta lalach mat kar"

And so it came out..like lalach (greed) is good..and so on..

The definition seems precise..

But greed isnt always about wealth as u say.. (Although in the case that i am talking about...yeah its about wealth :ashamed: )
