ipods are cheap at least now in india and easy to use .. i faced a few hassles with my h10 and a freezing problem with a new zen v m but nothing so far with my ipod , guess thats one of the reasons why ipods are popular.

@SC --- I did and didnt understand much on that page.

And then I remembered reading on some other forum that stereophile is basically a review to test the specs of the product and not a true audiophile's review

Last night, I subjectively tested x86's X-Fi Plat in stereo ASIO mode against mac Mini's internal Audio here ->

I will try the same with the iPod and iRiver PMP tonight (apple lossless/FLAC as well as 320 kbps MP3s)..I don't have high expectations, but let me see how it fares!

BTW, It was not a true X-Fi test as I had it running in pure ASIO mode

Pros: Best clarity

Cons: No digital effects or jhing-bang if you may
