In a bit of a tricky spot because the whole idea of SIM cloning comes with shady connotations

And which is why here is the reason why I need to do this
I have an Airtel connection that is on an unlimited GPRS plan.
Now there are times when I want to hook up my laptop to the phone, esp when I am travelling

Catch is, hooking up the phone to the laptop and using it as the mobile gateway sucks up a lot of juice, and that's obviously something I dont want esepcially while travelling

Now I do have a couple of old spare phones that I could use solely for this purpose, but taking out the SIM and popping it into the other phone each time is not the easiest way of doing it

And since I usually use the Edge connection on the phone, and only sometimes on the laptop, it's kinda pointless to keep two separate numbers with EDGE active on both

Any advise appreciated

It is Possible. But from what i know,it is not possible to clone all the sim cards. Some networks use very strong encryption methods to protect cloning!

it is possible and not that quite difficult i guess.

however, it is totally illegal. i think its illegal even if you clone your own sim.

buy a sim card for the purpose of using gprs only.. :), i think you can easily get it for 300 rs per month if you search for right plan.. or buy a bsnl data card 250 rs per month unlimited uses..

DX says this

Note: the included software scans your existing operator's SIM card for the internal Ki number (i.e. an operator password). Not all Ki number can be scanned. DX did not manufacture this product so we suggest you to research on this device before purchasing.

my dad uses two SIMs and has to use a useless samsung dual sim phone , this would be great , if you do buy it , plz post here if it works

guys, any updates in this regard? I am interested in having mulitple nos in my single handset, nokia 6630. Also if u import urself, u might get invitation for the party in j@il by cust0ms officers... so just be cautious

NOTE:

Even doing it for ur own number IS illegal scz.

If you look at the fine print, most operators loan/lease out the SIM to you etc or retain control rights over it and stuff. You are explicitly NOT supp to do stuff like this ;)

guys i had a classmate working in biggeee telecom company (wont name that company you can guess all geeks ranting about it ) i had a prepaid no and a postpaid no of the same company . what she did for me was put my prepaid no with the postpaid no in the same sim.

so now to dial a no through postpaid was normal and to dial through the prepaid was to add * or # (# i think ) before the no which i was calling and voila the call went through the prepaid no . i was making proper use of the 2 lines system of nokia .

dont ask me how she did it and she left that job

so if i can do that with the cloners it would be awsome

it would make life a hell lot easier

^^ that is simply great.

One doubt though in ur case, were u forwarding calls in between these nos, to reveice them? or u could receive calls from any no at any point of time without call forwarding......?

I too have one prepaid and postpaid of same company and want to couple them together. If what u got can be repeated, then that would get fantastic... though i often buy cheap prepaid cards (having nice schemes) and would love to use them in single sim, by switching lines.

both the nos were separate entity .

no forwarding . forwarding is billed !!!!

if someone would call any no the call would come on that phone

i cant get it repeated otherwise would have done it again

she left the company and we r not exactly in ..... terms now

man that was 2 yrs back.....
