Is it possible to repair Epivalley SXC 1080 by Tata indicomm

Hi,

My almost new Epivalley SXC 1080 by Tata indicomm is not working.
It says 'Unknown Device' under USB devices.

Device and driver installation procedure is properly followed.

I don't have bill (this is a pecurliar sitatuion which I don't want to discuss).

In Mumbai, Epivalley service centre only service /replace if I have bill for product.

Some say, a firmware updgrade is required since I am using a new connection /SIM.

Is there any way, where I can repair this (in Mumbai) ?
 
It is possible that you're missing drivers for it. Your modem might not be broken to begin with.

Try looking for drivers for it and installing them manually.
 
Are you plugging in the device on the USB ports in the front of the cabinet?

Plug in the device on the USB ports present on the back of the cabinet. See if it can be recognised now.

If possible try plugging in the device on any other PC.
 
I tested on different machines (3 nos.), different USB ports.

Installed and tested drivers beth from tata CD-ROM, then downloaded from tata website.

Installed and tested exactly as per their manual.

ie., first driver install, then inserting the device.

Still no results...

any possiblity to repair this folks...?
 
Mate,

Same problem happened to my modem. I took it to the service center and they declared it defective and unrepairable.

They said sometimes the USB part might be "loose," which can be fixed, otherwise, it is irreparable. I have thrown it away and gone for an MTS connection. Crappy Indicom, I was fed up of their poor service as well.

I live at Andheri (E), Mumbai

Reached Tata tele. there at Sakinaka who told to reach Epivalley sevice centre near seepz.

They didn't help rather.

Anyway, thanks, also inform in case you can help me out.
