You could probably try swapping the other side panel over to this side with the cardboard, then placing the cabinet horizontally on its right side to make it prettier if you have the space.
The only logical explanation based on physics for justifying above scenario I can come up with is temperature difference/changes over a long range over a long duration. So for example, a glass panel cabinet with a gpu & processor inside generating temps of 60-70C air over the inside edge of glass panel while the room has air conditioner with avg temps of air over the outside edge of glass panel at 20-25C & this happen often for long durations over a course of years.Another interesting thing I came across somewhere online was that over a period of time, tempered glass will crack no matter what. So, I am going with the takeaway here that cabinets with tempered glass will last for 5-6 years before the inevitable happens.
Same happened to my Ant esports cabinet side panel. I removed the side panel and placed it on the floor while it shattered and again for Cougar cabinet side panel while removing it from its ledge it shattered in my hands but fortunately it didn't cut me somehow. Both times both brands replaced the side panels for 1.5k + 500 for shipping each time. The only logical explanation based on physics for justifying above scenario I can come up with is temperature difference/changes over a long range over a long duration. My good friend microsoft copilot told me this -The only logical explanation based on physics for justifying above scenario I can come up with is temperature difference/changes over a long range over a long duration. Thanks for the idea but it is not happening due to multiple reasons. Anyway, I had called a few local glass shops to see if they could make a replacement panel. Can't do that it seems so I have also given up on the idea. too much of a hassle for me right now so have made peace with this cardboard. Will look for a new cabinet in few months time. You could probably try swapping the other side panel over to this side with the cardboard, then placing the cabinet horizontally on its right side to make it prettier if you have the space.
Do you want a matx cabinet? I might be selling my 2023 bought Galax Rev3 cabinet this month or next month depending upon the arrival of Deepcool CH260. My cabinet is pure white with mesh side panels both sides. All sides there are just filters. All four sides and inside the mesh sides on both sides. Can handle any matx mobo and ATX psu. Will handle upto 360mm AIO on the top. Just check the specs from here: https://www.galax.com/en/revolution-03.htmlMy good friend microsoft copilot told me this -
Tempered glass panels on PC cabinets can shatter spontaneously due to several reasons:
Irrespective of the reasons, the larger point here is that as I browse and see online, it seems, I am not the only one that has faced this issue and yet I have never heard a single "tech guru" talk about this drawback in glass cabinets. Anyway, capitalism rocks! So, until the next mass of glass lands on my table. Cya around folks!
- Nickel Sulfide Inclusions: Tiny impurities like nickel sulfide can form during the manufacturing process. Over time, these inclusions expand and create internal stress, eventually causing the glass to break.
- Edge Damage: Even minor damage to the edges of the glass during installation or handling can weaken its structure. Over time, this damage can lead to spontaneous breakage.
- Thermal Stress: Tempered glass expands and contracts with temperature changes. If the frame doesn't allow enough space for this movement, the stress can cause the glass to shatter.
- Defective Glass: Pre-existing cracks or scratches in the glass can reduce its strength, making it more prone to breaking.
- Impact on Edges: While tempered glass is strong on its flat surfaces, its edges are more vulnerable. A small impact on the edge can lead to a sudden shattering.

Thanks for the offer but I have an AM4 ATX build. I intend to continue with that for the next couple of years at least while just changing the processor. How is your new build doing? the AM5 build working all good?Do you want a matx cabinet? I see you went with the classic flap design with white&brown aesthetics and masterfully placed cello tapes. And the sexiest gaming PC build award goes to...![]()
