I bought a BSNL prepaid connection to use 3G on my HTC Desire few days back. Got it activated and then put it in my Desire but no network is shown and when i go in setting a message "No SIM detected" comes. I tried the same sim on many other phones including Galaxy S and it seems to be working then finally i tried it on Nexus 1 which almost have same hardware as Desire and the SIM doesn't work in that either.
From what i see its the SIM compatibility issue. Went through many forums but can't find a query like this anywhere. Anyone familiar with the issue ?

Is any other sim detected in this HTC Desire or Nexus? Can surely be some issues are there are sim versions as well, try to check some one elses 3G sim and also go through the documentation of HTC phone to check for any specific requirements.

well airtel, idea sim are working fine...i also asked the guy from whom i took the connection and he said only this sim is available to him.

The 3g network has 2 bands afaik and one doesnt intends to work on a phone having support of the diffrent band ... as i dont know much of it just giving u a hint ... other members with enough info plz confirm

ok so the same sim also doesn't work with G1 :|

surely its some hardware compatibility issue with HTC mobiles and BSNL sim...any idea guys ?

your conclusion is wrong .Try another sim from BSNL .

BSNL sim works fine on Desire .It works fine in Nexus one also .

then may be the sim has some issues...but then again the same sim is working fine with samsung galaxy S and even 3G is working on it properly.
