Go for Lenovo Thinkpads business models as they offer good service along with sturdy models.
Your issue is crystal clear.. u will be travelling a lot and u need a sturdy lappy. You dont want a MBP to have problems during travelling after investing so much money in.
Latitude ones from dell are also good. Pretty study and robust.
WTH more ppl aren't recomending thinkpads is a mystery to me. It seems red dragon has still not got it yet so maybe more effort is required. I've been using them for over ten years, never ever had a problem with them.

I think you should consider Sony Vaio then. They are much better priced and the build quality is also good (will definitely fit in your budget of 60 K). The macbooks are really costly for the components they offer.

Get a MacBook if you have the money...

I got one and I am hooked onto OSX for life !!!

And the best thing is the worldwide warranty based on serial number!

Awesome support, unmatched battery life, premium quality and the superb trackpad!

I tried working on Windows 7 once after I got used to OSX, but I can positively say that I'll never go the windows way in the near future.
True.

They might not have the most latest hardware but they are excellent it their own way for eg: their trackpad. It is the ultimate trackpad I have ever used. None of the other brands come near that level of refinement.

Believe me If you have the money Invest in a MacBook Pro 13 inch. You certainly wont regret it.

Plus using Photoshop on the Macs is like icing on the cake.

It will take some time getting used to it but you can never again will be able to settle again for a Windows machine.

its always worth buying a mac. their support is second to none, the quality, build n feel is top notch, everything from the viewing angles to the sound to the battery life is way better then anything on the market at the moment, i used to get 6hrs easy from my 09 gen. ... cant think of any laptop that gives such runtime. dont waste ur money on a dell.. get a mbp. ull never regret it. :)
MBPs have long ceased to use good tft panels with the great viewing angles.

This has been true for atleast the past two generations of MBPs. The screen is no longer a positive for them.

OTOH, the Dell RGBLED display is rated as being one of the best that you can find on a laptop

@ stalker , agreed they dont use their matt screens anymore (which ever even better), but its still on of the best screens out there, atleast fr a daily user like me ,, comparing it with a few dells that my friends had.. i find it way superior .. dont want to get into the specs detail..But if the OP can go n try it out himself.. itll be much better for him to decide :)

OK,so I am even more confused now.Can you guys tell me which laptop will give the maximum peace of mind?My budget is fexible as I have a decent job now,but it should be RELIABLE.My current lappy has caused me enough embarassment in last couple of weeks(random shut down, freezing at minimum load, pixilated display etc.etc.).Please donot suggest vaios, they are no better than HPs specially after a year of usage.

If you can buy through your company and get a corporate discount you MUST go for a Dell. Have been using Latitudes for 3 years now and I just cant find a reason to complain. If you need a trouble free machine which gives you the minimum down time then go for Dell business series laptops with 3 Years NBD warranty. The warranty is valid worldwide with the service tag.

EDIT: Dint realize this was my 500th post. Yayyyy :)

No,I can`t buy through the company,in fact my job is not even remotely related with any IT company.I work for WHO and need to travel to weird places in Bihar and UP.

Get a Mac for Peace of Mind.

It is a Hassle free system, Plus you will save yourself of embarassment from Random shutdown etc...

If you want to display presentations in a Projector or on LCDs you can get the Apple displayport to VGA or Apple Displayport to HDMI

Well now Its up to you to decide.

Regards,

Then you need an latitude XFR and definitely a laptop with complete care (which is essentially warranty+ insurance). If you travel so much then you need insurance which you would need to buy from 3rd party and I dont know of any good plans for laptops and I can safely claim that they don't exist. Plus white macbooks would get dirty real quick and frankly they are good internally but externally nothing beats Latitudes. Also you dont need to be an IT professional to get discounts. Infact I think you work with WHO :hap2: (searched for a respect smiley but couldnt find one :ashamed:) and you deserve a discount. Look around for dell employees on forum if they can help.

@ Others who are recommending Macbook: Guys atleast read his intended usage before blindly suggesting MB. I have nothing against Apple as a product. But for the OP's usage he will end up with another non functional laptop.

Edit: Just checked out that the Latitude Range is insanely expensive in India :ashamed: Vostro 3400 +3 year CC would be well under your initially quoted budget. Infact for your purpose the V13 series would be good too but I would suggest you the 3400 over it :cool2:

Could you elaborate on non-functional?

^^^ I said end up as non functional. I am not really confident on Macbook's survival when put to rough use :P

Correct me if I am wrong.

Very wrong :)

The Al unibody is brilliantly built. Makes for a great student laptop actually. minus the shitty pricing

Macbook is just an excellent piece of work by Apple..

I recommend going for it if you are not much into laptop gaming and want a good one for just Photoshop or Multimedia

Macs have really excellent battery life and good speed(even though they have pretty low speed intel core 2 duo's)

I recommend you going for the Macbook pro and not the macbook because i saw the basic one and it isn't sogreat in terms of build quality and display).

GO FOR IT DUDE. YOU WONT REGRET IT

I saw both tne macbook and mpb side by side yesterday, their display seems to be same. The only downside with the mb is the white plastic body,it looks kind a gayish. Is it really worth paying 10k more?
