Is it worth getting a .in domain?

or if you can think of something cool like linked.in and some German dude has not already picked it up

If it is some business identity...it better be .com
 
Its not a business organization..

Its going to be a blog first, and then a community forum.. No im not going to drop this idea very soon either..

Is it advisable to get the same name in .co.in ?

Any other ideas..?

Also, I have zero knowledge and this will be my first domain..:ashamed:
 
india centered community? It would make sense. co.in is useless you are desperate. Here is my preference(varies by type of site):

Commercial

1 - .com

2 - .in (last resort)

no use going for anything else.

NFP

.org (i would not put much money in it)

rest

.net / .in

Come october and .com / .org/ .net prices are set to rise...by quite a lot. verisign is getting greedy. these will be getting expensive by $1 or 2. expect retail price to be around $10+
 
Yes it will exclusively be an india centered community..

But im still thinking..should i or should i not...

Anything specific to be considered while taking the domain??

any other extension i should occupy with the same name??

Damn verisign..So prices increase by rs. 200?
 
premium domain market for .in is pretty stagnant.

I thought i picked up some good .in domains only to realize they aren't that highly valued. Better stick to .com.

I think you can forget about finding a "good domain" in a discussion thread :lol: Seriously think about t and you will know why not :P

I've dropped that thread plan..haha..wil keep thinkin though, and pick up if i find any or remember any good domain..for now will buy that one..

but i just thought that if users dont hav to say abcd.in and could only say abcd, it would be better..But i guess its not to be..:(

Then on second thought, what better way to make them know its a website than putting a .in :p

And Obviously i was gonna ask them to pm me the names..:P
 
I started a thread like that some time back. But instead of posting I asked fellow members to drop a PM. I got few decent suggestions, but ended up picking something very different.
