Congratulations Guru.

I never thought people will think for joining Microsoft. If I were you, I would have jumped in :)

All the best for your career.

Thanks.. its just agonizing to give up Bangalore,Friends and the near perfect job that i have now right now for "MS". hopefully the work would be hard/exciting enough o make up for ....

I'd have expected atleast some MS guys would hang out in TE... oh well

^^ then dont, it's very difficult to find that perfect job, and if you have one, evaluate very carefully before leaving. I am assuming the main factor for leaving would be money, you need to prioritize your options, and if money tops the list then by all means join MS. I have seen many of colleagues who have left top paying jobs here in Mumbai, to take a opportunity back home.

You are taking a very big risk. After reading that MS india blog, I would say stick with your current job.

You know what this thread is getting pointless. It is like asking us to look into a dark tunnel predict what is at the other end. Advising someone to change jobs is really subjective -- even if the person shelling out advice knows everything about the job changer. Just to many parameters are concerned.

For example:

1. Current JD vs. new JD.

2. Old salary package vs. new package.

3. New job location respective to your geographic locations.

4. Current position vs. position being offered.

5. Current company vs. new company.

6. How well you are currently doing in your current company.

7. Bonus pay out -- if any.

8. Joining incentive(s).

9. Relocation remuneration.

Of course, you will not tell us all the above (nor do we need to know). Parameters like above, and sane discussions with your good friends and colleagues weighing in all scenarios will help you decide. Maximum or minimal we can say: "Microsoft is a company -- what they offering you is good, JOIN".

Since, No one is giving you a sensible answer I will. MSIT manages internal Microsoft IT. They handle stuff like internal websites etc. They are also at the cutting edge of Microsoft software, these are the guys that deploy latest MS software inside MS.
Your chances for travel outside India will be to Seattle only. It is a good job if you are into MS specific tech and want to be on the cutting edge.

Disclaimer - I work for MS but not MSIT.

One of my friends got a job offer from MSIT among the 94 or so graduates recruited by MSIT this year.If you could let me know Job profile/post you are going to get,I might as well ask him!
