I bought mine XFX 8800 GTX in Aug 07 for 35K from Rashi.

Now looking at the current gaming scene , this card is no where near a high end card now.GTX 280's and 4870's have taken the the top position.

Even if I want to upgrade from 8800 GTX , it won't even sell for 15K.

Is is worth to upgrade , as all games except Crysis run max at 1680x1050.Only problem is games like Far Cry 2 which is similar to Crysis.

I guess the 8800 GTX should probably last until XBOX 720 comes around.

Buying the absolute best is not a sound purchase in graphic card... There is always something much better around the corner... It only serves if you are willing to move fast & upgrade to the latest... but it also means shelling out a lot of money....

that's why the mid -end is the preferred segment for most gamers where they
are not liable for a heavy loss even if they upgrade to something better.... Personal Opinion....:cool2:

try selling it and get the radeon 4850(Rs.9k) more than enough to play farcry2 and "crysis".
Similar thing happened to me ,i bought a radeon 3870 just before the launch of 4k series but am not compalining coz 3870 are dirt cheap now and am gonna go crossfire (ordered one from KMD).

But the mid-range cards don't really offer as much performance compared to the high-end, and become outdated pretty quickly.

Basically you have to have damn deep pockets to sustain a hobby such as PC gaming. Or buy mid-range stuff and be happy with whatever performance you get :)

An 8800 GTX is still an awesome card even today, you shouldn't be unhappy with your purchase decision at all. It has lasted you for a year and will run most games nicely for at least another 6 months. Now, the people who bought 9800 GTX's for nearly 20k a month before the 4-series Radeon cards came out, they have a reason to be unhappy :bleh:

Hang on with the card buddy for 6-8months atleast....then u can SLI when u get 8800GTX for under 10K...else sell it after a yr n get a good card tht time... meanwhile this card would b more thn enuf...

It's sad that 8800GTX has been finally dethroned but all things come to an end and 8800GTX held supreme for a looong time.

But it is still mighty card for 1680X1050. And it is not advisable for you to sell this card and get a 4850. In fact 4850 and 8800GTX, more or less match in performance. So I doubt you will even get 15K for your card.

Stay with 8800GTX till April-May next year. Don't worry, it will handle Far Cry 2 etc with ease at 1680X1050. And when the next gen cards come in summer of 2009, buy a new card.

That thing happened to me too

i buyed XFX 8800GTS 320MB for 19.5K

see now ...........what 9600GT costs ????? n performance ..........
got GIGABYTE 8800GTX from Ice Fusion Sir for 8k
as i play on 1024X768 reolution it will be enough for me...........thought 8800GTS was enought ........it was temptation :lick: that got me to buy 8800GTX

Not quite yet. It is still powerful card out there.. It will get outdated when Dx 11 games are out, till it can churn any upcomng Dx 10 game on 22''..Don't get dissappointed, be happy with GTX..
:)

I dont think, its outdated yet.. GTX is still competitive with other powerful cards and OCed GTX is just bang.... Let Xbox 720 come.. and then think about it... I am damn sure, Xbox 720 gonna blow all the Consoles and Graphics cards...

PS - xbox 360 name looks good :) than 720 :S

though the temptation to upgrade to a 4870 / 2*0 GTX will be hard to resist, selling a 8800GTX now will not be a good idea unless u get a good deal for this one.

As u are playing at 1680 res, 8800GTX will hold easily this holiday games, so u can think of an upgrade 1H 2009 IMO

But selling 8800GTX for a 4850 will be an insult to the former

Sitick to the card man...and avoid spending above 20k for a gfx card in future....its not worth spending very high as computer h/w get outdated pretty fast.....

Ya , I am going to stick with this 8800GTX.

Second hand GPU's don't sell at good prices in India , unlike other countries.

I still have my damn ATI Radeon X700 PRO with me which was 11K in Jul 05 , couldn't sell to anyone in 07.

U cant control damage w/ mid range GPUs too, eg. people got 8800GT @ 15k, and now brand new 9800GT costs 7.5k, 9600GT @ 10k now new1 costs 5.5k :)

Instead of cribbing, feel happy that tech is moving forward :ohyeah: . and we r getting awesome VFM GPUs like 4850 @ 9k (8800Ultra performance in 9k)

U should feel lucky that U played all games w/ full eye candy ON.

I will never influence any1 buying decision, if he has money to buy 4870X2 why not, he is set for next 1.5yrs minimum instead of regural buying/selling hassles of mid range. Only condition : Other components of rig should be balanced too.

G80 GTX/Ultra r legendary GPUs, still hold its own.
