Visited branch today and here are details:
Account was marked irregular since no transactions were made in last 3 years, got this fixed immediately with a penalty of 500 per year via immediate cheque clearing.
PPF account is not matured yet, was opened in December 2007, this is termed as first financial year 2007-2008.
15 years start from April 1, 2008.
Till date April 06, 2022 completed 14 years only. PPF accounts gets matured on April 1, 2023.
Banking person suggested not to premature close the account instead do a withdrawal of 50%.
Really hurting part is 50% withdrawal will not carry any interest till date, it will be only 50% of principle only.
