I have conflicting information from Seagate's datasheets. Two different ones for the same model, one says it uses SMR while the other one says it's PMR. Do you guys know? or do you know of any tests to determine if it's shingled.?
exhibit A (says its PMR) pg 9 of 31 : https://www.seagate.com/www-content...op-fam/barracuda_25/en-us/docs/100807728a.pdf
exhibit B (says it's SMR) pg 3 of 3 : https://www.seagate.com/www-content/datasheets/pdfs/barracuda-2-5-DS1907-3-2005GB-en_IN.pdf
update:
Apparently assuming PMR == CMR is wrong. PMR disks can be shingled. Read in Anandforums that Seagate confirms that this model uses SMR. Guess it's hard to get CMR drives these days.
