im currently using a DG31PR mobo with a quad q6600 proc and am really happy with it. i have no probs what so ever
im gonna build a system for my uncle wih a cheap dual core and the same DG31 mobo.

i was thinking of giving him my mobo and getting the most loved IP35 mobo. i DO NOT overclock anything, so is there a point of getting the IP35 if im not overclocking? will i see a big VISUAL change between the 2 mobos running everything at stock? or should i stick to the DG31.

U can use high performance RAM with P35, thats it. No other feature if U r not OCing. Try getting DFI DK P35 etc, something with RAID, eSATA, all solid caps, and more SATA ports, even these r features which normal person dont use.

Intel mobos generally do tend to run hot, maybe thats good excuse to buy Abit.

That IP35 actually has less than average features, in terms of back panel connectivity and lack of boot menu support in bios, and has a couple of odd (fixable) bugs when using SATA and IDE drives together.

As overclocking is not a priority, I recommend going for the Gigabyte N73 based board, which has esata, firewire, serial, parallel etc ports and is cheaper than the Abit, at Rs 4.5K

If such features are not needed, a G31 or cheap 7050 based board would do as well.

Don't think about p35 boards if you don't want to overclock . No esata, firewire not even raid support and its ~5k .

im using and xfx 8600gt
the only real advantage i see the the southbridge ich7 vs ich9.
i dont need esata firewire etc... im happy with DG31PR but if i get a few more fps in gaming and lil lower mobo temps im happy to switch and keep it a lil more future proof. im also one of those ppl who usually stick to intel boards only. i wanted to swtich to the DG33 cuz of teh 2 extra ram slots but it really sux with osx86 (leopard)
i know this is a really silly thing, i wanna take the abit. but that stupid boot screen thingy when u turn on the comp with the abit logo looks UGLY compared to intel. dunno... its just me :D

Are dude that LOGO can be disabled, i say you buy ABIT, it is worth it, who knows you might start OCing!!!!

ABIT all the way FTW!

p35 chipset is a great overclocker......if u aint gonna overclk(i doubt)....A quad tht u aint gonna overclk...surprising...u ll mayb later:P.

as all said, no point in buying P35s if you are not OCer. If you really want to buy P35 then go for Biostar TP35.. its good mobo for ~4.5k
