Is the corsair cx 430v2 good enough for this gaming rig ?

Hello All,

Just building a new spec. & would appreciate if someone could suggest if the cx 430v2 from corsair would be okay for this PC.. (budget for the PSU is about 3k but can stretch if a costlier PSU is "highly recommend" for this spec if a cx 430 v2 cannot handle)

amd phenom x4 955be
amd 880g chipset motherboard (from asus/gigabyte)
2 or 4gb ddr3
sapphire 6770 HD 1gb dd5

Other components:
2 sata hdd
2 dvd-rw drives
1 pci tv tuner card

P.S: Would also appreciate if someone could suggest a good 880g mobo from asus/gigabyte for not more than 4k..

Yes CX430 V2 is enough, but AFAIK it carries a [strike]2 year warranty[/strike] 3 yr warranty with it [strike](Check with dealer if its 3)[/strike].But its rated at 30dc and in India this can hamper the performance as room temperature is bit on higher side.. May be FSP saga 500 would be good choice or else CX400 :cool2: if you get one.

Get Gigabyte 880 GM USB3 AM3+ mobo for 4450/-

or Gigabyte 880 GM USB3L AM3+ mobo for 4250/-

Buy Seasonic S12II 430w ~ 3k... It is much better than CX430 V2 in every aspect... Plus it comes with 5 Years warranty... And the RMA of Seasonic PSUs is handled by Tirupati...
 
Seasonic S12II 430W @3K would be very good if it really comes with 5 years of warranty.

If not the 2nd option is Corsair CX400 may be @2.5K with 3 years of warranty.

Last time I check at Tirupati Kolkata (may be a years ago), they told me it got only 3 years of warranty.
 
^^ OP has mentioned 6770, then why suggest a PSU for 6790?? ;)

If your budget is 3K, then get Seasonic 430 as suggested by some members here... seasonic manufacture the best PSU's
 
^^ The Seasonic S12D 430W is the best of the lot @3000/- quid, you get a bronze certified power-supply with enough muscle to pull a AMD HD 6850, the HD 6770 OR 6790 shall be a breeze for this one.

If this is too expensive for you, best bet are the

Corsair CX 400 ~ 2600/-

FSP Saga II 500W ~ 2500/-

all the three SMPS are reliable and have enough juice to power anything around the AMD HD 6850 mark easily, so OP's RIG shouldn't prove to be tough. I wouldn't really place the Corsair CX V2 430W in the same league as the SMPS I've mentioned above, but suffice to say it is a great improvement over the earlier CX 430 model, here are some reviews -- Corsair Builder CX430 V2 430 W Review - Page 8/8 | techPowerUp / Corsair CX430 V2 430W Power Supply Review | KitGuru.

The reviews state that although an improvement over the older generation, the new SMPS is still not a gaming tour-de force, so will not settle well for your needs [OP]. Hope this helps, Sire.

Yes Seasonic S12II , M12II, S12D, M12D and X series PSUs come with five years warranty... This has been clarified a long time ago by Mr. Clive Chan ( Seasonic Sales Manager) and Tirupati (Authorized Seasonic PSUs Distributor)

Then Seasonic S12II 430W @3K could be a good choice without a doubt.

Even it can handle most of the GPU which has only one 6-pin power connector with normal PC.....

Sorry, but the power supply calculator post earlier does not have the option for HD6770. LOL :P

I just bought the CX430 V2 for INR 2000 from Nehru Place. It does the work for me.
 
Yes it will because even though Corsair rated them at 30C they have passed reviews conducted in the 44C-48C temps with flying colors delivering the rated wattages at 81.2% - 85.4% efficiency :)

Thankfully Corsair has corrected the mistakes they did with the initial CX430 and has now delivered a solid V2 version. The budget PSU king in the ~2k-2.5k mark IMO.
