Hi guys,
I am in search for a laptop but having found many good reviews for macbook i wanna ask you guys a few questions.
1)Is it worth the extra money?
2)How good is it for programming?
3)Best alternatives consider 45K budget..

I am a CSE student and do alot of coding so wanna know about the keyboard as well
I am a Windows user and never ever touched a Mac, so is it comfy?
Please reply

1.very

2.unix base, so very good...run windows on parallels for .net programming

3 havent seen another lappy since got the mbp

itll take you about 2 days to get used to the mac shortcuts, smooth sailing after that

lots easier to navigate the filesystem if uve used a linux system, not really needed though since everything is fine through the gui, unlike linux

Buy a macbook only if you want to use snow leopard operating system but if you will endup using windows on it then its a waste of money as you can buy higher specced windows laptops at much cheaper price.

Ok guys

Thanks for your prompt replies

I wanna know if i can program c,c++,java and .Net comfortably on it..

Will try to get the 13" MBP as my uncle is in US now

BTW any other options to get it cheaper??? As i can get a 13" MBP basic one for 50K there..

MPB 13" may not be a good option if you want to use an IDE for programming. IMHO, the screen size is somewhat smaller than what is comfortable for programming. If you can afford 15" MPB will be much better. So, I would suggest you actually try using that for some time in Apple show room and then decide.

And yes, MPB is worth extra money, even for programming purpose.

Went to iStore to check it

I felt the keyboard ok but the screen was a little bit small

I felt the 15" was very comfy, but its way out of my budget....

Will wait until the Q1 release and see

Else if i get one 15" at 60-70K i might get it.

Anyway i will be buying only in Nov-Dec time as now my exams are getting nearer

Check out if 'mono' supports all the .net functionality you will want to use

Mono - Provides the necessary software to develop and run .NET client and server applications on different platforms

^^Thanks for that advice

But if i intend to use a Windows application in Parallels should i Install Win7 in it?

As i am a Noob in OSX Related softwares , i just wanna know

I find mac os x extremely easy and intiutuve to use,but i have not calibirated the battery of my 13 inch macbook pro, will have to do that soon.

^^OK

Thaks for your suggestions

I think its time to pool up my resources

I think i will buy it in April

And it most probably will be a MBP 13" or 15".

Else a MB if it gets a 4GB RAM by then ;)

Ok

With that i have decided dude

It will be a 15" MBP of Q1 2011-If i am still that much interested in it
