Is there a RESUME VALIDITY PERIOD for RS/MU/MS

Is there a RESUME VALIDITY PERIOD for uploading/downloading sites like RS/MU etc i.e if i keep a file in my dwnload manager and d/l it partially on day 1 and say after 1 month i want to resume d/l, will it resume d/l from the former point where i had stopped or it will start from the beginning?

2.There is this site filesquick.com we can buy BW from 10gb to 300gb in our account or earn bandwidth through uploading files.
Now here they have kept a RESUME VALIDITY PERIOD of 10 days, i.e if i have 500mb in my account and if i right click on the link of a file(say 100mb) and paste it in my download manager it instantly deducts 100mb (i.e it doesnt wait for the file to be downloaded completely and then deduct the bandwidth. So even if u cancel the download after 50% of completion,it will not deduct 50mb but complete 100mb.Ok,thats fair enough, but i've 2 queries on this >

The admin there says that it is not feasible and possible for him to keep the RESUME VALIDITY PERIOD above 10 days.i.e if i partially d/l the file on day 1 it'll deduct the total amt of bandwidth from my account and after 10 days if i resume that same file for d/l it deduct the same amt of BW again.

So is he true in saying that it is not feasible for him to keep RESUME VALIDITY PERIOD over 10 days?

y does the d/l ticket have validity time when the BW is deducted instantly as v paste the linx in our d/l managers & that the d/l file is active on the server?

Pls help

Sorry but i did not understand your query entirely, but writing a few things that may assist you.

For RS/MU free i suppose if you pause the download, chances are that it wont resume or may be if you pause for a few seconds it MAY resume but no guarantee. Get a premium account if you want resume support. Also i am not sure what will be the VALIDITY of resuming but it shouldn't be much.

If you want a good file hosting then you can go for Free File Upload and Free File Hosting - SlingFile.com

My query is basically for the 2ndpart of my post.
On the server of filequick.com where they host videos, their RESUME validity period os 10 days.

So i just wanted to know y is RESUME VALIDITY PERIOD required when on filesquick, the BW is deducted as soon as u paste the link in ur download manager?...i think the validity should remain as long as the downloading file is active on the server, isnt it?

you can resume from megaupload.com free account if you have a dynamic ip. but download has to resume within 24 hours or else link expires.

Megashares has a better resume capability but has a cap of 250 mb on their passport(validity) then you have to renew it periodically by getting a new passport to resume download from download manager.

Thanx for ur replies guys, i know all about RS premium free n all that.My query is not inclined towarsd that.
i think nobodys getting to the crux of my query.

I just want to know that r guys at filesquick.com taking us for a ride.

Explanation - filesquick.com is site which hosts videos which r uploaded by the members. Now u can d/l those videos if u have bandwidth in ur account.
U get that bandwidth by wither purchasing or uploading videos.

Now,their downloading works like this -

U can use any downloading manager to d/l filesquick videos. There is no waiting time.
If a video file u wanna d/l is 100 mb and u paste that d/l link in ur download manager,100mb is instantly deducted from ur account.THen after that u d/l the file or not, partially d/l it...the 100 mb is GONE from ue bandwidth account.
Recently i came to know there that if keep a video file to d/l on downlaod manager say on 1st jan and i partially d/l the file say,50% then on 11th jan if i try to resume that file from 50%,then it deducts 100mb again from my account.Reason been that u r trying to resume that file after 10 days, and the validity of resuming file is only 10 days and u have past that.

My question is that IS THIS KIND OF AN EXPLOITATION? when-

  • If the bandwidth from my account is deducted instantly when i paste the link in my downlaoad manager(just pasted in my d/l manager list, not completely downlaoded the video mind u) then y should there be a validity period for my resuming the d/l???....
  • i may resume my d/l after 1 month or 1 year, how does it matter to the server?
  • y should there be a limit of 10 days?

As long as the video file i'm resuming is not removed from the server i should have the right to resume it at anytime.

Please tell me if the above process is justified for any server offering video downloads?
Is there any technical reason for limiting time period for resuming downloads.

ofcourse you can resume downloads anytime you want.

use download managers like flashget, idm, dap, getright etc

save your RS password in IE/firefox cookies, so when you open the RS link..you just have to copy paste it to your download manager or it automatically fetches and then it wont even ask you password or anything and just start downloading.

go to the option of rs premium -- and tick DIRECT DOWNLOAD ...

and dont worry it will deduct as much you download..not the full size..

It seems nobodys understanding the problem. Its about the validity period n not IDM's or premium accounts.I'm using RS premium acc since 1 year.

Anyway,no probs, the admin of that forum replied with this reason for a validity ticket which i found pretty reasonable >

"the long string of random characters is the download ticket. when you try to download using this url, the server sees the ticket and immediately understands that it is you and also which file you want. when someone else goes to the same download page, she will get a different ticket, but the rest of the url will be same. if you also visit the same page after a day or two, you will get a new ticket.

so the server is creating a new ticket every time someone clicks on a filename or on 'direct download'. the file may not be downloaded, but the ticket must still be created and stored. this list tends to get quite long and must be pruned."
