CPU/Mobo Is this Temp ok??

it may not be a heatsink issue..
imo..if it were...the diff between core0 and core 1 temps would not be so high..
looks more like a bad temp. diode...
but do try reseating hsf...properly...
maybe some friendly neighbourhood TE member could help if ure not confident with the hardware part...

goodluck

Ok i did reseat the heatsink but temperatures remain the same for Core # 0 i.e 59C even when idle.. Any other suggestions?

There's some weird thing in the processor.. same thing exists in the centre of the HS.. i m attaching an image..

Thanks

Lol that weird thing is the Thermal paste and that thing explains why ur 1 core temps are high.

Firstly, this is showing that the setting of the heatsink was not done properly as the thermal paste is not spread all over the procy.

Secondly the contact between heatsink and processor is not correct as the paste is improperly spreaded and thus making 1 core go higher

Should i remove the thermal paste and put in some new? I don't have any with me.. Which one should i buy? How is it to be spread? Over the entire processor i.e the square part?

You could either get Arctic Cooling MX-2/Arctic Silver 5 from Amarbir or KMD here, but that'd atleast cost you some 400 rupees and 3 days (atleast) to reach your place. If you're okay with that, fine. Else, you could always get that 10 rupees Thermal paste/goo/compound :ohyeah: from the nearest computer shop and apply it yourself..

There are some threads to help you here :

One more thing, before applying the paste again, you have to wipe the processor clean (using spirit)..

Dude, i really don't see any problem with spreading of thermal paste currently. Even if you connect heatsink without any thermal paste, temps are never that high. And on uneven seating of heatsink both cores run very hot. Since this is a new rig, don't waste time and replace it. Dealer should do it on the spot ( new piece, few days) later you might have to go through whole RMA process.

Hey guys got the processor replaced. :D

Need some help regarding jumper settings. The current config is

Code:
Primary Master DVD RW
Primary Slave 80GB Seagate
Secondary Master 500GB Seagate (this has XP installed)
Are there settings fine?

I wanted to change the 500GB to primary master, DVD RW as primary slave, 80GB as secondry master.. so how should the jumper settings go?
Thanks
