I use a software called Actonis Disk Director for resizing partitions.

currently C:\ has only 250mb free (previously resized to 30GB from 20GB

by this same software)

previously few days back, I successfuly resized the partiton of

C:\ from 20gb to 30gb in Windows itself without restart.

Since the disk space is full in C:\ i want to resize it again. this time, it wants

to boot up and in startup only it wants to resize it (dunt know whats the reason.) Same thing happened with LAPTOP for the 1st time. it went in startup and resized before bootup screen.

Pls see the following screenshot. how to solve this error? is this UAC? because of that i am not able to resize the partition and returns back to

where it was:@

I tried in laptop but there it rebooted and successfully resized partition :hap2:

Using OS: Windows Vista X64 (64-BIT)

maybe there is no adjacent space on disk or other partitions to resize the C: partition to a larger size....?

NO!!!! nothing like that, last time it was only 100mb space and it did resize it... i am also able to choose from tab how much GB to transfer from other partition.. so there is no problem of space :)

Try opening Acronis in Administrator mode by right clicking and choosing Administrator mode.

Also, try to do the same using Vista's Disk Manager.

P.S - It is always recommended that you defrag your drives before resizing them.

lol!! cant resize with Vista's disk manager. u can only format in vista's disk manager..

C:\ is windows partition.. read my 1st post. ive successfuly partitioned

before in windows itself, not it wants to go to startup boot and do it

there same way like it did in my laptop.

im talking about this problem of my DESKTOP.

hope stuffs are clearer now.

Try running in Administrator mode. Else, go to safe mode through administartor user and then do it. :) It should get done...
I used to have this problem a year back and dats how it worked for me. But then I switched UAC altogether and it no more comes...

LOL, yes you can resize using Vista's Disk Manager.

Right click the drive you want to shrink and click on "Shrink Volume".

Then Right click the drive you want to increas in size and click on "Extend Volume"
It has worked for me once when most of my drive was empty, but understandably, not the second time, when most of the drive was occupied and fragmented.

Hey your Sig lists your Proc as AMD X2 4200+ whereas in the screenshot, it shows up as Phenom 9550 Quad Core.
Probably the sig needs a update ;)

And thats some storage man
