Please, this is urgent and important. I have read many good and bad reviews about this college. Ive got 8,300 rank this year and have been called for counselling.

I'm totally confused, I was thinking it was a good college all along. But reading articles especially like this:

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE GOING FOR VIT COUNSELLING

Makes me feel VIT might just ruin my career too. And I've sincerely worked hard and hopefully will do well in aieee.

So anyone, who knows anybody else or themselves associated with vit? Please your feedback is crucial, to the rest of my future right now.

That link isn't opening for me.

And although my info is about 3-4 years old but at that time VIT was supposed to be like Top 50-100 engg colleges in India. Nothing comparable to DCE or Top 3-4 NITs, but definitely almost as good as Manipal.

Of course, that might be fabricated info am I am not too sure. But this is how most people even at goiit used to think!, as in top 50ish types

Hmm, okay. I'll wait for more people. Damn I wish someone here were from VIT, or had friends/relatives, it would save my day.

i have few friends in VIT but i don't know the current state of the college. None of them is online, may be in their classes. Will let you know.

I had a colleague who had passed out of VIT. He had only good things to tell about VIT. But that was looong time ago. No idea how it is now. :)

The college is good.. very good actually. Don't go by the random rumors you hear all over the internet... at the end of the day it is mostly your own skill set which is going to be useful. Unless it is an IIT , the college name won't go too far in helping you.

And yeah.. AIEEE results can defo be full of (unexpected) surprises , so don't miss out this chance. Definitely go for the counselling if you can , it'll also allow you to see the college for yourself.

Indian rankings don't mean much, they are often paid. But AFAIK it does deserve a Top 50-100 position in India, can't bet on it tho

I asked my friend, he is doing third year there. He says management became more money minded, opened new campuses and increased strength. The quality of education is fine.

[OT]are you giving BITSAT?? IMO that will be the best option over VIT if you manage to get (>300)/450 [/OT]

well..it all depends on how u define good...i passed out of MIT Manipal last year and i have the following to say:

1. Infrastructure - Well, private universities always have much better infrastructure than the govt ones. Be it hostels, messes or the classrooms

2. Placements - MIT..as well as VIT are visited by the top companies in the country...it all depends on how well u do in their selection process

3. Faculty - They are able to afford a decent faculty...not much of a problem anyway since no one studies in an engg college :P

But the best thing about a private university is the experience it offers...u will meet and friend people from all parts of the country....lots of extracurricular activities and fests...and an overall development of the self in social terms...

Best of luck!!! :)

Ok ok, I will go for counselling..

But one question..

BIT Mesra

I cant find the online application for BTECH at BIT MESRA anywhere in their site. If someone could help out.

First of all, congrats to comp@ddict for clearing out VITEEE.

VIT can be called as an average college. It is neither as bad as those "unnamed" engg colleges that pop-up here & there. Nor is it as good as IITs, NITs or some top private engg colleges like BITS Pilani or BIT Mesra.

I however, doubt the rankings in the list provided above. The list is old & outdated.

BIT Mesra admits students strictly based on the AIEEE rank through the CCB counselling. So there is no additional forms to apply for BIT Mesra.

BITS has a common application form i believe... not college specific.
this is BIT, not BITS, both are owned by different birla brothers

I dont think the faculty is good. You might find a very few good ones , but not all are good. Private colleges CAN afford good faculty, but i dont actually think they do it. As far as my college (a private one) is considered, the faculty is mostly crap though i find one or two good professors.

Considering the other things, there are many restrictions for girls dude. Heard that it's becoming strict day by day after the management changed.. Some cousins of the previous director took it over..Need to give a thought about it ;) I would still prefer top few NITs than VIT. All the best. :)

PS: All info from friends in VIT :)

Look, the main reason why people go to VIT is to have fun. I have friends who are studying there and boy, I wish I had joined there instead of this stupid Engg College I have wasted my 4 years on (yes, I just wrote my last ever Enng exam.. :D).

Booze, girls, good food, no restrictions- Absolute fun. I

Of course, if you don't like any of these above, you'll not miss anything by not joining it. As for education- Average. Not too great, not too bad. But they've got a superb placement record, so your future is virtually guaranteed if you don't screw it up yourself.

I'd wholeheartedly recommend the college if you are a bit fun loving. My brother blocked me from joining VIT and Manipal Univ because he knows how it is :( He didn't want me to get spoilt, apparently (which is a joke really.. lol). My opinion- Join it if you can!!

^ Restrictions for girls? As in? Do they follow a burkha like system?

Lol. No. They have to be in hostels by 6 pm. And when i once went to meet a friend of mine, her hostel warden asked her to change her dress since she was wearing a sleeveless and only then she granted permission for her so called OUTING ( from 9 am to 5 pm). And those security guys chase away boys everyday at 6 pm who talks to their female friends near their hostels (Been a witness to it)

@JT_daniel That's what people outside think about VIT and that management wants to change it. Boys even have attendance sometimes and sudden checks for booze etc.

And that teenage pregnancies etc. It's all crap. I dont think there are any. Students can't be so dumb :P
