I was offered a Dell Streak with some 9months+ warranty by Ayakant12 and we decided to take the Deal forward for 19k shipped.Made the payment by 09/05/2011 and he got the payment same day itself and by evening, mailed me that some couriers weren't accepting to ship the set and that he was ready to deposit back the amount if it doesn't go through. So,I suggested to ship with Insurance only via DTDC Blue/Plus or BlueDart and he said , then shipping would cost around 800 bucks with DTDC and Blue Dart was asking 3000/-.I agreed to pay half of that and next day,he shipped via DTDC Blue service and scanned docket was sent to my mail showing insured amount as 14k as seen from the pic reproduced below(on 10/05/2011):

Now, the shipping was done with pincode set to Kottayam,Kerala as Ayaskant said the DTDC CC told him thats how far they would provide Insurance and though it will be delivered no problem to my pincode location(Kollam,Kerala) insurance was doubtful. All these information was sent to me after shipping, and i was advised to go and fetch from Kottayam if possible(100kms via road).Ayaskant also mentioned that it cost him 410 + 600 towards insurance and he wouldn't ask me to pay any more amount(Dell Streak prices had taken a hit of nearly 3k after the deal was made, maybe thats why) and i was happy as well.

After 3 days of their proposed deadline for DTDC Blue service delivery and still no update on shipping status other than the day it was shipped, i went to local DTDC and they said it has reached Chennai only that day(Friday, 13/05/2011) and would reach tomorrow. The next day, i called up DTDC,Kottayam and they said the package had reached and would forward to Kollam only by night and i would receive it by Monday.Since i would be very busy to receive the set on Monday and despised the idea of keeping the set one more night at warehouse, i left out to Kottayam on car with couple of my friends. After 2.5 hours of driving, we reached there by around 4:30 pm and the courier guy said it was in the storehouse and would retrieve it and left and we went and had a some coffee and came back in 5 minutes.

First thing we noticed was that there was no DTDC Blue pouch that is wrapped around all BLUE/PLUS parcels - there was just the box lying there with the consignment docket taped to its side.My friend asked for a knife and started ripping the tapes and opened the box in a minute. In the meantime, the courier guy, his friend and lady staff were watching the unboxing and helping with it and they didnt at all hurry us to sign the consignment off before opening like many other guys did.

There were 2 boxes, one main brown Dell Box and inside it ,a smaller Retail Dell Box with the phone picture and all. When we took out the smaller Retail box, there was a small packet(some 100gms )of 'Pronida' protein powder between the larger and smaller box and i thought it might have been there to cushion the shipping effects. When we opened the Deall Retail Box caqme the shocker - only 5 or 6 AA size Eveready and Novino batteries!!! At that instant, it flashed me what had happened and we dig into it see only the data cable - no handset, no charger, no bill.Just the batteries,a small booklet of the phone(i think) and the manual.

The courier guys was also shocked and the guy immediately said thats why the DTDC Blue Pouch was missing. He immediately called up the higher officials and they asked him to check the online internal channel and he did and said that the chennai guys had not mentioned the weight of the package when forwarding and that the protein powder was made in Chennai. But the most astounding thing we found out when i mentioned that the package was insured for 14k ,that the main docket that came with the parcel was insured only for 4k as shown below:

we scrutinized both for sometime, and found that some sort of document forging was definitely there, not sure where it happened. As he said, we rejected the parcel and have asked the sender to go to the courier office and inquire about the Insurance amount mismatch and claim for a refund.

So, now DTDC Plus/Blue has also turned out to be no more trustworthy than the local ones. What next?? Any and all advices in this matter would be really really appreciated as am in a crying situation now and dunno what am gonna do about all this.

I would suggest you open an FIR for theft. In fact, escalate the hell out of it. Take it up with the zonal/country managers of DTDC. Make them pay for all your losses.

These DTDC premium services (Blue, Plus) is just another fraud. Recently a DTDC Zonal Plus delivery took a clean 3 days (and that too after lots of follow up's) whereas delivery was promised literally overnight!!!

Same thing happened with me a few days ago. It was a 4gb pen drive from ebay. When i got the package it had dtdc tape all over so i got suspicious. Opened and it was empty. the packet was torn and the pen drive was taken out. thankfully i did it before signing and returned the package. I suggest you write an email to all concerned authorities at dtdc. wait for a day or two, if its not remedied, file a police complaint. this is daylight robbery.

Mail them at CSS.CO @ dtdc.com . I recently had an issue with one of the consignments (a stray one in more than 6 years of using DTDC continuously). I mailed them, and I got a follow up call the next day from their office. They do follow up well. That's the impression I got atleast.

Do u have the imei number of the Dell Streak with you, that will help to file a Police fIR,if required...

These people need to be punished...

Thanx all for the response....the IMEI number of the set was there in the import sticker, but since i didnt accept the package and simply rejected it, I cannot file an FIR or anything yet i believe.have to be done via the seller and we are working on it once he is back,Definitely not gonna let this go.....

i encountered the same experiences with DTDC 2 times...i had to sent a package to my friend a month ago contains a internal hard disk and a tshirt...but my friend received only the hard disk and the DTDC people stole my tshirt.....

and the 2nd time i was sending a ipod, some dvds and chocolates to my gf....she did received only the ipod and dvds...this is ridiculous how people can stole chocolates from a package...in 2 cases the packages were tampered slightly.so i decided that they took goods from 'em

Damn ! This sucks .Ive always avoided DTDC local franchise cause they either make excuses of not accepting electronic items or overcharge as in OPs case. Other than that I always thought they were pretty reliable but this comes as a shock .

I would advise everyone to stick to either TNT or BlueDart only for shipping out mobiles or expensive gadgets. BlueDart accepts electronics/mobiles if the packaging is done in front of their guy and they put a security stamp over it . There is no way at all a BlueDart or TNT parcel can be tampered with . Most importantly their rates are pretty reasonable for the kind of the service they provide (next business day guaranteed delivery for all Metros).

I recently got a iPhone 4 shipped from Mumbai to Ahmadabad for only 430 bucks and a Galaxy tab weighing 1kg for 550 bucks :). BlueDart is the way to go.

Now this is really sad... :(

I have received cellphone packages from Letsbuy via DTDC Blue without issues earlier.

But while sending packages, I always try to send via TNT. They seal the package with a Printed TNT Seal in front of you and tell you to ask the receiver not to accept the package if the printed seal is tampered.

Also, as I just saw, the scanned invoice that has the value as 14k is just a carbon copy. The original invoice is the one that has the writing in blue ball point.

Now, prima facie, it looks like the carbon copy is the one that has been tampered with.

In any case, it is easier to tamper the carbon copy than it is to tamper with the original. I believe that the carbon copy was with the sender and the original came with the package.

Compare both invoices and you'll notice that except for the missing '1' figure, everything else is identical and accurate on both invoices
. Is something missing here??

And it is one of the common hints of forgery: adding something is easier than erasing something!

Alerted Senior/Management DTDC Persons....lets see how they respond.

DTDC Management should file an FIR on the erring franchise and the phone will come out in 2 days if they do that ! These delivery packing/guys just steal and join in another courier !

it seems to me too that the 1 on the carbon copy was written afterwards. this 1 and the rest of the 1's on the doc in 2nd pic do not match. in the second pic the 1 looks like an exclamation everywhere. in the top right in 2011, in middle @ 1 kg, etc. the carboncopy 1 looks like a | sign. thats just my view though.

Thats so unreal :@. I completely stopped trusting DTDC with anything long back after reading so many complaints on TE alone. Been using TNT and happy. Its good that you opened the pack before letting the delivery boy leave because generally people just take the package and sign the confirmation paper.

Where is the insured amount written ? I mean does it have some other document ?

The sender talked about some 600 bucks which he had to pay as insurance.... where are its papers ? Is the surcharge risk thing same as insurance ? How much will the risk surcharge be on an item with declared value of 4000 and how much will it be for 14000 ? :S

when shipping gadgets and stuff always stick a bill with it ....if you dont have a bill then print a fake one

I don't really want to comment on anything else, but the 1 in the 14000 definitely looks like it has been added later.
