guys i got my new rig on 1st sept ....
though the microsft mouse ive got seems to trouble me a lot..
I got it on combo...MICROSOFT WIRED DESKTOP 500

the thing is the cursor's keeps on moving my itself sometimes on the screen n sometimes it just moves wayward so quick tht i hv to locate d cursor....fu*k...!

im experiecing this thing frm d 1st day...n today its been bugging me a lot more...so im writing this thread..so tht u guys can help me out..

i have tried several times plugging the jack in n out that it might b coz of lossening but it isnt...ive tried even running it on USB..but i get the same thing again...
i talked to a nearby shopowner he suggested to place a mousepad or a paper thingy..but i dnt think tht shud b d case....i ve been using optical mouses for quite a while now widout ny pads...

The dealer is probably right....when the surface is reflective, sometimes the cursor 'drifts' away...anyway try using a book (w/o shining cover) or something.

what you're experiencing is a rather common problem called skipping. many optical / laser mice skip. unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to fix it except buying the brands and models which are known to not skip.

a few MS mice are skip free like the wheel mouse optical, the intellimouse optical and the intellimouse explorer but a lot of their other mice skip.

dude.. this stupid problem happens with me mouce too ... i too have a microsoft mouse.. and at times i feel like Blowing the Goddamned contraption to pieces..

But cant really do much with this problem .. Grin and Bear it ..

Or get a High Precision mouse.. maybe something like a good gaming mouse..

I have MS Basic Optical mouse with same problem, you can't fix it nor with Driver or any other. This is my second mouse (same make) as it's very comfortable for my palm.

Ask you dealer if he can exchange this one (allow him some deduction in price - so he can sell it to some one with profit and equal to mkt. price) with other high end mouse, I think Logitech too have such mouse matching with MS price and didn't here any such problem with any Logitech mouse so far (correct me if wrong)

I used Special Pad for Optical Mouse, Exam Pad, Note Book, Magazine all in vain. I think it MS technology To Remember that you are using Microsoft OS and HW too from MS, leave me or Dance with me (like cursor) :bleh:

im really in a fix now....coz going to the dealer again costs me a lot of time n money..n i doubt he'll ever xchange...such a small thingy..

forget to mentioned earlier,

One of my friend have MS Basic Optical mouse with XP, have no such problem:S

go to Start/Control Panel/Mouse/Pointer Options - Uncheck - Enhance Pointer Precision.

Source:One minor suggestion - CNET Computer newbies Forums

Another Method:

* Select None for mouse pointer Scheme

* Uncheck Enable pointer shadow

* Select Motion or Pointer Options and set the pointer Speed slider to the middle position

* Turn off mouse acceleration

o Set pointer Acceleration to None (on Windows NT or Windows 2000)

o Uncheck Enhance pointer precision (on Windows Server 2003)
