Hey guys,

I will request all people (XT incld) to please see the user feedbacks before settling on to the ASUS mobo........ not saying there is some fault with the 580 chipset, but that maybe the ASUS board has some issues in its implementation.

Im looking to see what the board will do at high fsb and how you got it there, I have a board and 280fsb is all im getting true stable which is a lot different to what im seeing from review sites.

I had 8 hrs to beat on the board which is not really anyway long enough and I had to come away, thats why im looking for end user feedback.

If you all can help it would be really appreciated.

Tony

I even have hard time to boot @ 250

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=91939

This follows from the fact that before buying the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum-SLI board, i read in various review sites about how they were easily getting up to 350+ HTT while i had trouble getting it above 300HTT at the max chipset voltage (1.8V) set in BIOS.

Hence take the site reviews with a pinch of salt.

Or better yet, wait for DFI 580 to arrive :D

Karan

Oh man, this does not look preety........... ASUS is having major issues with getting a stable BIOS out of the stable...... it seems they jumped the gun on this one.

My report...

BIOS 0311 Does in fact fix the problems in games. I'm running smooth as silk now! (Note... I haven't tested Quake 4 Yet... prob will tomorrow)

ASUS --->STILL<--- hasn't officially posted this BIOS... but I do have it my server for you XS peeps out there. LINKEEEEE.

I had no problems running at 1T timings... high HTT... Dual Channel... or anything. However my OC didn't change at all... I still can't go any higher.

The HDtack bench ran perfect... no more nose dives in the HD bandwidth.

It would seem that ASUS fixed the skew settings in the BIOS At any rate they look different. ?????

All of my benchmarks stayed the same (3DMark 03, 05, 06, PCMark 04, 05 and the Sandra Mem benchmark) that is except for HDtack.

This is a good BIOS to fix the problems stated in this thread... However... this doesn't fix the fact that this board is really picky on RAM. I have 5 sets and it would only run 1 set at it's rated speeds (And these sticks are all known to go higher than rated)

The problem with changing BIOS settings in large increments also isn't fixed. I would recommend only changing a few things at a time and then rebooting. Ramp you OC up is steps... don't go right for the top (even if you know these settings will work) Your PC will not boot after you try and save the settings! And the sad part is that the ASUS CPR feature only works 2 times out of 10. I can't even count the number of times that I had to clear the CMOS .

That brings up another point... I've had this board lockup during tweaking in windows or after setting new values in BIOS. When I try and reboot it will do nothing! I always end up having to clear the CMOS. From time to time, after I clear the CMOS, it will boot once and say "defaults loaded BLAH BLAH BLAH" I found that even if I leave everything at stock and just try and save the defaults, the PC will fail to post after the settings are saved. If I clear the CMOS and save the BIOS defaults again it will do the SAME thing!!

There was quite a long period there where I couldn't get the board to boot at all for hours! I finally came across the solution

Remove power from the PC. Set the Jumper to clear the CMOS. Remove the battery! Let it sit for about an hour. When you turn it on it will boot and will continue to do so. I had to do this several times... and the only way I could keep the board from failing to post is to let it sit like this for quite some time

In short... this board is TRASH! Save your money and wait for the ABIT board to hit the streets. You may have to wait... but ASUS has proven what rushing a board to market can yield I now own a squishy piece of crap that I paid over 2x the MSRP for

-10 NOT XS APPROVED!

Well its a well known fact that Asus is rather late in releasing their offcial BIOSes.
Whenever they come out with but, they are really stable and fix any issues there may be.
So there is nothing to be worried about,Asus will release a BIOS update to solve the problems.
Its a new board, first one to be based on RD580,there are bound to be problems,so Kido you havent made a discovery or so....chill...lol j/k

i think its normal ...coz the mobo is just launched ..... it will take some new BIOS and some more revisions to be completely stable ....

:)

Oh Yes Asus was just testing the market with this board.
I guess they are busy implementing the socket AM2 version of this chipset.
personally i have given up my plans to buy an expensive socket 939 m/b now and will wait for the AM2 versions.
There is gold(value) in low-cost , value for money socket 939 m/b's @ present:D

ahem amey, when DiD i claim to hv made a discovery? Just posting some technology beats brother. Btw who is this kido you are referring to? :P

this is so obvious .. this is what happens when asus releases a deluxe board in their first revision when it cant promise the etability of a deluxe :bleh:
i mean lok at the old rev of a8n sli deluxe had lots a bugs!! then came premium with erev 1.02 and all solved then a8n32 another story! :)

Well care to tell me which motherboard manufacturer comes out with rock stable mobo with 0 bugs or issues ?

And regarding the Asus A8N SLI Deluxe, there were no bugs except for the 1T issue but that came into consideration only while overclocking. Then comes the chipset cooler, which asus acknowledged they goofed up and whenever someone's fan failed, they immediately replaced it with an improved chipset cooler.
BIOS release ironed out all small issues. The board was rock solid at stock.
Please point me out 1 Asus board that was always unstable and crap even after many BIOS updates for it.

Its better if you not comment on something you are not completely aware of.;)

whewww.. no way i neva said its a bad mobo i am just saying the way asus made it up soo quick its obvious tht its gonna have a lotrs of bugs maybe with some bios releases it'll be fixed out or a new revsion as in casse of a8n sli premium.
btw ... i said it against the hype tht all peeps were saying tht this mobo dont have any bugs its the best amd solution .. all i meant to say is it wont be better 2 jump off for this mobo at this right now maybe a month later it'll be better .. let the bioses be released na!!
