Issues with Abit IP35-E

Okay, so this is not about the double boot problem. A weird thing happens whenever I overclock my system. Sometimes, it boots properly with the o'ced speed, but most of the times its with the default speeds. A check in the bios will still show the oced fsb and ram timings. I've checked with cpuz, and quite sure its a problem with the bios.

Has anyone faced such issues? I'm using bios version 18 by the way.
 
This sorta thing happened with me when I had IP35P.

When I OC'ed, it use to double post and after a successful boot everything ran at stock.

After I did a restart, checked the bios for OC values and proceeded further.. System OC'ed normal.

It was surly a bios issued, but since bios updates for my model didn't fix the issue.. I got a replacement for my board (don't ask me how), a MSI P35 Neo3.

Solid Caps, OC's very well and no bios issue's.. except for the double post.

But don't get disheartened, the IP35E has a bios fix for fsb reset. Bios 12.

^^bios 18(beta) n 17 is available.

hey m using same bios beta 18. m not having any prob as in yet. i even have ocd with it. boots fine with 3.4ghz.

should i revert the bios as well??..whts best stable bios yet?
 
Flashed with bios v12. Now it double boots everytime I switch on the machine. Guess I'll stick with 18 for now. Don't wanna kill my hdds
 
Does it happen everytime u start ur machine or only after you cut of the power supply from UPS or mains?

Cuz in my rig it double posts only when the latter happens..
 
Nothing will happen with your hdds. use 12 except double boot no other problem :)

Like stalker pointed out, hdds do get affected due to the immediate spin-down and spin-up. Once a while its okay, but if it happens regularly, it does decrease the life of the hdd
 
I've got a Abit IP-35e, I installed Corsair XMS26400 2gb kit with these timings 5-5-5-18. What and where should I make the changes in the bios as it is really-really complex ????
 
I had a IP35-E board for 10 days after which it died and in that period it has done some damage to one of my 320GB HDDs with its dual booting, this HDD now gives a lot of "raw read errors" which was not the case before I connected it to this MoBo :@

YES the dual boot did some damage to the HDD !!!

I do a lot of fiddling with my hardware setup and often restart the system - sometimes upto 10 times a day. Possibly the dual boot will not harm HDDs if the system is restarted a couple of times a day but my HDD seems to have got damaged with the excessive dual boot restarts of my system. Thank GAWD the MoBo died on its own otherwise very soon I would have ...... :Comp9:
