Hdd is not detecting on new motherboard but is working well on old motherboard. Please reply quick,my new rig is left aside.
My friend's SATA hdd is showing up in BIOS of new mobo.

reset the mobo bios, and check the new mobo bios, for setting like HDD/sata mode or something, set all those to IDE

which settings are you talking about?in bios, first two spots are for ide hdd and then six are for sata.

my friends sata shows up but my ide doesn't.

Verified the Master/Slave jumper is set right?

Err not related. The 'IDE' option was only for SATA HDDs to help with installing XP and older OSs to these drives.

Mate master-slave won't be an issue, because in both the mode, the hdd will be detected.

And about the second, one my mobo have got some thing like that, which when set to sata, my IDE drive is not detected.

@OP, Go mate enter your BIOS setup, go to Main>Sata Configuration>OnChip SATA Channel [set it to enable]
There might be another options like
SATA Port1 – Port4 [set to IDE]
SATA Port5 – Port6 [set to IDE]

post back your result

Unless it conflicts with his DVD Rom or somethin which is on the same master/slave setting.

Tried disconnecting everything else and connecting just the hdd? that helped? if it's a parallel, most issues are related with the hdd conflicting with some other drive.
