I gave into the temptation and installed Vista ultimate as my 3rd OS (other two being XP and Suse 10.1). As a precaution, i downloaded vista ready drivers for my xfx 7600 gs, and MSI 965P Neo mobo(lan, realtek sound, intel inf etc.) before installing vista...

everything is working fine..i set up the lan for my sify connection and i am able to ping the server from my system..but the SIFY client does not install as it requires the trend micro AntiVirus to install along with it.. it just exits giving a message tht it is unable to dnload the antivirus... So any1 using Vista and has a sify connection...pls help...

Btw, the sify client installer does not mention Vista in its OS compatibility list...so does it mean tht SIFY Client doesnt work on Vista??

Second, i'm not able to make my 4.1 speakers work properly with the realtek sound app on vista...the rear speakers sound as if they are in karaoke mode...:| The rear channel sliders are all the way upto full, but still, they hardly produce any sound..

they just work gr8 with the realtek app(older version) on my XP Pro SP2 in the same system..On Vista, Winamp and WMP sound as if they are working in 2.1 mode even when i've chosen quadraphonic setup in the realtek app.. Any help on the same will be much appreciated...:)

just call up the sify CC and ask those guys to disable the antivirus check for ur IP address..

do u have any other AV s/w..i'm assuming u can do without the AV s/w that sify gives..

SIFY client works perfectly on VISTA for me :) so thats not an issue..

for the second issues..

try downloading the latest VISTA drivers, 'cos its clearly a drivers issue..

yea, as baasha said, just call up ur local sify enggineer and tell him to disable av check for ur sify lan ip

OK.......ryan.........if you are like me, you wouldnt want to go thru hell talkin to those CCEs of Sify......man i would bash my head before i talk to them.......Just Install another AntiVirus, and it would work fine.............i have AVG pro installed along with Vista Ultimate and Sify works just fine.....

How much time does it take to disable the AV thru sify CC?? I have AVG internet security and it does the job for me...anyways the TM Office client supplied with Sify is useless...

thanks for the link, buddy...but I think the link you gave for the driver download is for AC97 codecs...my mobo uses high definition audio codecs.. As my mobo is MSI 965P Neo, i was using this link for the drivers at msicomputer.com... MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.

well, i too do the same on XP..:P i have AVG antivirus along with tht stupid Trend micro office client... the trouble with Vista is tht it doesnt allow me to install the sify client bcos for some reasons, it cannot download the av from the sify server...

So i'll have to call the CC to disable the av..maybe only then it'll install the client w/o the friggin av...

abt calling the sify guys up..it wudnt take any time, provided u can get to talkin one of them in the first place :D
but seriously, it wudnt take them any time once u tell them..and they have a 24hr CC line..it shud not be a problem..

yeah i have sify just call them thy'll disable the antivirus check on the phone it self or will give you a link from where you can download the setup which wnt ask for Trend Micro Anti Virus and tatz it .... its got nothing to do with vista.

Thanks for the help guys...problem solved to an extent...Called the sify CC and got the damned av disabled...after tht, the installation was smooth..:D

Posting from Vista now...

Btw, the rear channel karaoke thingy still remains after the latest driver v1.7 of HD Audio codec installation...i'm not exactly sure if its a problem because, the rears are normally supressed...but in XP, i used to manually increase the rear channel volume and lower the front channels as the rear are placed quite a lot behind me...and the fronts are too near...:P So tht way, the sound seemed to be coming somewhere fro the middle of my room, and i liked it... cant get the same effect in Vista...

I cannot hear the full range from my rear speakers..they sound like surround satellite speakers...i wud have loved if i cud control the sound output of the rear channels and make them sound like full range speakers..(like the front speakers..)
