I can see the messages, but I cannot open any of the threads. Even the backup thingy is not working - it just keeps saying backup.

Tried :

1. Cleaning cache.
2. Switching on and off phone.
3. Disabling and re enabling WhatsApp
4. Deleting WhatsApp images/videos/etc (just moved them)
5. Force closing WhatsApp.

Yet to try

1. Change phones (need to switch to the Redmi anyways)
2. Uninstall/Reinstall WhatsApp (not planning to bother, since I need to change phones)

I am using this on a Spice Coolpad Mi 496 running MIUI v5. Most of the MIUI stuff has been stripped out and replaced with alternatives from Google.

Rooted phone?

Possible to first backup its data via TiBu before doing a fresh install and then restoring the data backed up using TiBu?
I know this falls under the yet to try category but you've already tried out most commonly recommended steps!

Rooted - Hell yes. All my phones need to be rooted. Must.

TiBa already done. But I dont think it works.[DOUBLEPOST=1414245645][/DOUBLEPOST]Just updated WhatsApp - and guess what? Works fine now. Dunno what bug fixes had been implemented.

Damn.
