Issues with Wii bought in the US

Hello All

I recently bought a WII from the US and have been using it for the past month with no issues except the following two. I am wondering if any of you can throw some light on this

1. Although I am able to connect to the internet and have already done a software update, the Wii Connect never works. It gives a message that says that it's not available

2. Sometimes, my Wii console just turns off. If I reset the power input to the voltage stabilizer, then it comes on. My power connection is as follows

Ext 220 input - VOltage stabilizer - step down transformer - Wii

I also brought a Wii from US to India. If I remember correctly, console is required to be registered for Wii Connect. Currently its not possible from within India. So it will not work

I assumed that the components involved may be an issue so suggested a more robust solution.

Sorry, by mistake I connected your post to Wii connect problem mentioned.

Yes, this may indeed solve the 'turning off' problem.
