Newegg memo explains why Newegg is no longer charging New York State sales tax, as of August 21.

New Egg changes TOCs b/c of NY Sales TAx

A few months ago, New York State made changes to its tax law which potentially require out-of-state internet retailers to collect and remit sales taxes to New York State.

Since then, New York State has issused a memorandum indicating that an internet retailer would be presumed not to need to collect New York sales tax as long as: (1) its contracts with its New York-based affiliates prohibit the affiliates from engaging in solicitation activities which refer New York customers to the retailer, and (2) the New York-based affiliates sign an annual statement confirming that they have not solicited New York customers for the retailer.

We firmly believe that our relationships with our New York-based affiliates should not require Newegg to collect New York State sales tax. However we want to make sure you comply with the new rules. Therefore, we have posted special terms and conditions on the Commission Junction website. To comply with the memorandum, the terms and conditions require you (1) to not solicit business for Newegg from New York residents, and (2) to submit a yearly certification stating that you have not solicited business from such residents.

Please log into your Commission Junction account today to review and agree to the new program terms and attached terms and conditions. Because we want to ensure that our affiliate partners comply with New York State tax law, I would ask that you please complete this no later than August 20, 2008. Please note that if you do not accept the new program terms containing the new terms and conditions by August 20, 2008, the system will automatically expire you from the program. You would then have to re-apply and accept the new program terms in order to be re-admitted into the Newegg affiliate program. To prevent you from having to reapply, we ask that you make every effort to accept the new program terms on or before August 20, 2008.

We are committed to our New York customers, as well as our affiliate partners. We strive to provide our customers and affiliates with the best product deals, selection and service.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

A good deal to start with :

Newegg has VisionTek Radeon HD 4870 512MB PCI-Express Video Card plus Free GRID Game for $270 - $15 (with code EMCAJBKAB) - $20 Rebate = $235 with free shipping.

Newegg.com - VisionTek 900244 Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Awesome news, I havnt made any buying descision yet , now right time to buy

4870 is already quoted 14.5k, 270$ @ chiefvalue, now it will be 14k or under.

But KMD is too busy.

psdatta told that "KMD is in US "...may be he coerced newegg into doing this :P

wow, 270$ ---14.5k ...then must be below 14k 100% :D

Wow I'm in process of getting a laptop from newegg through KMD, does it means that now its going to cost me less that what KMD had quoted 2 days ago?

Well, KMD is in NY to sort out some problems. He won't be back for a few days. I think it'll be a while before he takes orders.

same question for me and how much ll prices be reduced...;)

Those of you who gave a link to Newegg product, would have got a slightly higher quote because of the NY tax. But with that removed, products from Newegg/some Amazon items will be cheaper from KMD.

Look guys, when I gave KMD the link to the Laptop I'm interested to buy this is what I got in terms of pricing, so can u tell me prior to KMD that what extra charges can I expect to be levied from the price quoted.
For Dell laptops you can go through their US site ..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220340
$1199.99 + $0 (US Shipping to NY) + $100.44 (NY Tax) = $ 1300.43
Shipping weight = 13lbs
Price = Rs. 65,700/-

Local shipping @ actuals

eh.. you think kmd is doing you a favor here? he's selling a service.. the rate of 50.5 was by dividing quote from kmd you posted by the dollar price you mentioned.

the 10buck overhead per dollar is basically the cost of shipping+kmd's cut

AWSUM!!
Im breaking all my piggi banks :judge:

Awaiting KMD's response for the same.
