Just to get a clarification, you used VPN and yet you could not access your desired websites as Jio had blocked access to those sites? Is it another way of telling that using VPN would be less effective on Jio fibre?
No, access was blocked without VPN. I think they do deep packet inspection, so always better to use a VPN. Unfortunately, with Hathway too being majorly owned by Reliance, they are using the same back-end now and even Hathway keeps on injecting payment reminders on Indian websites.
I'm thinking of trying it out for the free month and if I'm not REALLY happy with it I'll return it and use the fact to pressure my local cable guy to finally give me a connection. He says he still has a major ont shortage, tons of pending new connections.
So even if i do buy a big-as tv, I'll be using it as a display. No OTT for me. So my primary question is, how well does torrenting work on jio fiber? No seedbox or vpn or anything, just plain old public trackers.
Have done the same on mine as well. Earlier, Jio was not assigning proper IPv6 addresses to those on the APs, but correctly on the box. Now it's working fine.
Guys m thinking of switching over too.
I am on a airtel 40mbps connection and they can't offer anything more.
Jiofiber is here. Been here for a few months now.
Can someone give me an honest feedback. I am thinking of the PLATINUM plan just for the speeds. Is it truly 1gbps ? Also how is the ping to gaming servers compared to airtel ?
Also how is the downtime ? For me airtel has been great in that regards.
We also have BSNL, but I find bsnl speeds inconsistent....
Thank you for all the help.
I don't think it is 3300 GB per month. There is no clarification on their website either. Jio mostly offers 100-200 GB per month and rest of the data is just introductory or lock down benefit. Can anyone clarify?
Its the age old practices - separating speed and bandwidth. When they say unlimited bandwidth, its means unlimited. They just are saying upto 3.3TB (or maybe 3.3TiB) its unlimited at base rate and then mostly at single digit Mbps. Obviously its counting download and uploads both.
He already told me if you can get an ont from anywhere i'll pull the line today itself. shortage is due to all the new connections for wfh etc. incidentally he says he has a lot of jio customers switching to him.
I had checked about a month ago online and onts were ridiculous prices. they use netlink branded ones down south and i've heard syrotech in bombay. All were crazy prices online. When my bro's ont died, the cable guy gave him a replacement which was also an upgrade to 1gig for 600 bucks. So i had an idea of how much it costs standalone.

I am using a VPN on Jio and have no issues so far. The issues I am facing are with respect to the VPN and location I use - for example some sites are blocked on certain VPNs as they seem to be abused. No issues on the paid ones.

What are vpn price ranges like? do they have a traffic limit or unlimited?
@vivek.krishnan Try using goodbyedpi from GitHub. Solved all blocked sites for me on Jio, except those blocked by the sites themselves (like certain subreddits by reddit)

Thanks for your inputs @vivek.krishnan
Could you mention which VPN are you using? Or your feedback as to which one would be better to deal with Jio fibre..

Any VPN will do the job, especially paid ones. The free ones have issues. No marks for guessing that we have a huge amount of freeloaders with some degree of technical proficiency here who try VPNs (free) and then the rest use Telegram!
@alekhkhanna how does netflix via jio works? Do you sign in with your own account or does it detect jio box and has its own id? How does Rs 300 payment work (via fiber bill or direct to netflix?
