Need to buy JioFi2 urgently. Have HP laptop but did not receive invite. Can someone please spare an invite urgently. Appreciate your help and obliged.
@Vagabond I purchased the device and SIM card. Hopefully it should get activated today.
There is some major change happening today. Could be what you said. That anyone could buy a Jiofi 2 device without invites since its not getting a good response. I am not even sure if the device is worth 2900/- but mainly I bought it so that I could get a very good looooong trial of JIO to decide whether it can be trusted as a primary connections.
Some other rumors heard the the mini xpress at Viman Nagar, Pune are
1) From Aug 15 all codes will be sent directly to the dealers. No longer on the devices or only at Reliance outlets. Which also means that Dealers can sell these codes or combine then with Lyf or other 4G handsets.
2) No public launch of 4G till December. If that is true then eventually the 90 days UL offer will become UL till December launch
3) Many SIM card activated from demo / on display devices are getting banned by JIO.
4) Activation time for Samsung offers increased to 10days due to extra work load.
5)No verification calls for local addresses and for passport given as document. (if they contain address of same city). I will be able to verify this today.

The Outer Box.
Back portion. Its bit tricky to remove the back panel. Just like some very old Samsung phones. Though the sim card slot is a full sized. The full sim was too tall to fit there. Had to use the micro sim portion and insert it in a SIM holder(also came within the device) then it worked fine.

After inserting SIM and memory card(optional) insert the battery. Device weighs exactly same as the battery
A very light weight device. Battery is 2300MaH.
Power adapter (1000ma output) and USB to micro usb cable
Device powered off
Powered ON. The power button is also lit up.
The device surface is very glossy and finger print magnet.
WPS switch on the side.
Mic USB port on the other side.
Hopefully the card will get activated in few hours.
The default SSID and passsword are printed on the outer blue box.
The access user name and password to configure the router are administrator and administrator
Its a 2.4Ghz band only device. (B+G+N)
The device gets slight warm while charging. not yet used so will update that later.

Reliance mini Xpress guys are IDIOTS.
The guy has called me again to fill the form. I had filled the form so clear that any OCR could read it. His excuse. : In my fathers name field I wrote my Fathers first name and surname but did not write complete name of his fathers name(my grandfather). I had only mentioned the initial. And since my passport has full name of my grandfather against my fathers name the form also needs to be the same.
What stupids. The problem was the space provided was not enough for my father and grandpa's full names. (They both have 9 & 10 char length names respectivly)
Now he suggests that he will write in small letters irrespective of no of boxes provided.
I dont think my device will be activated today. And I am traveling for next few days. Dont know what to expect.

since yesterday the jio myfi device is available without invites.
mine got activated.
i already used up a gb today since 8am watching live TV and downloading magazines from Jio apps.
the speeds while traveling are amazing and there was no buffering even once for last 90min. even on the highway.
The device gets very slightly warm after an hour but even then it's much cooler than what a normal phone would be while charging or while being used as a hot-spot. battery is still showing full after being used for almost 2hours...
i also activated volte and using my oneplus one (via jio jion app). so my opo is kind of dual SIM now. voice clarity is amazing from Jio to Jio. others network it's hot or miss depending on your network coverage.
again it's too early to give a verdict but do far I'm loving it. speeds are north of 10megs everywhere so far. pings are in range of 60-80ms to Pune servers.
