Everyone who absolutely loved this big dumb robot, raise your hands :hap2: It was the best serial of its time, second only to He-Man :P And I found a nice page with a tribute to the Dumbass Robot!

VishalPatel.COM: The Giant Robot Page
This site is really cool :ohyeah: Also has a page about Indrajal Comics  Those were just awesome!

Ooh I love Giant Robo, at least that's the way they called it. I still get dreams of a big eye in the sky (no pun intended). There's a wiki on Giant Robo too here.

Oh man, I used to love the series, I must be 5-6 yrs when it was started on DD metro. LOL looking at it now it seems so cliched,,,,

Just shows that lack of choices can even make an horrendous show entertaining. Thank you Nehru for your socialist B$

AFAIK,Giant Robot got aired in 1984-85 in Doordarshan (No DD1 Or DD Metro then),came in Evening Slot 6.00-6.30 PM mayb!

Yeah, I remember coming home from play, just to watch this serial! And then of course going back :)

Yeah how can i forget this serial. Afterall it was one of the few kid's serial that used to air on DD back then.

They used to show it in the evening and then during the summer and diwali vacation special kid programs.

Me, my bro and cousine used to run to our neighbour's home to watch that as they had bigger TV :P

This serial, Ramayan and Mahabharat and then afterwords street hawk was all that i used to watch as a kid heh.

knight rider,street hawk,giant robot,alif laila,chandrakantha,tehakikaat...serials we used to watch as children...aah...those days!

Also, Tenali Raman, and Sword of Tipu Sultan.

Hey also there was "Kile ka rahasya" Damn scary at that time!
Uhhhh, just remembered -

I wish I was a spaceman,
the fastest guy alive

I'd fly you ‘round the universe.
In fireball xl5.
Way out in space together.
Conquerors of the sky.

My heart would be a fireball.

A fireball.

Every time I gaze into your starry eyes.

We’d take a path to Jupiter and maybe very soon.
We’d cruise along the Milky Way and land upon the Moon.

To a wonderland of stardust.
We’ll zoom our way to mars.

My heart would be a fireball.

A fireball.

And you would be my Venus of the stars.

:hap2:

I think i was in 5th or 6th then!!:P

We used to make paper wrist watches that flipped open with the flick of a finger, and painted some time on top and speaker grills with sketch pens inside!!:ohyeah:

Damn, i think, we never put any buttons though!!

And everyone was Jonny Soko, no gargoyles to fight with!!:@

And since i used to be tall as a kid, almost a foot more than the class average, i would have to be Giant Robot sometimes!!:P

Sum 1 should PROPERLY Verify.....when GIANT ROBOT was "FIRST" Aired on INDIAN TV-Doordarshan.............mayb ASK sum "Senior" DD official-a High one up who were @helm-of-affairs back then!

b,coz from whatever i can CLEARLY remember.........I saw GIANT ROBOT(80% majority of the Series).for the FIRST times on My Old BW TV which was discarded & Replaced by Gr88 Toshiba Color TV in Early 1985(to watch Benson & Hedges Cup@ Australia@weird Night timings-CPR-Channel 9) & I can vividly remember the GR888888 feeling when i saw GR for the first time on colour TV.OMG...it was a complete NEW xperience alltogether......& i was so amazed to c jhonny soko & his robot in complete color!!!..Similar amazing BW-Color experiences happened with other GR88 (Legendary)serials too alike as in STAR-TREK(original series) & COSMOS(by CARL SEGAN).So can easily remember those GOOD OLD GLORY days of Indian TV

mayb what u guys (majority) xperienced & seen was just repeat telecast/re-runs of those famous serials!

But anyway.....all those programmes were simply gr88......etched up in the minds for-ever...nothing to compare with the 100odd shows that comes up in 100 odd TV channels nowdays.........to only fadeup in indistinction!

SIMPLY PUT.....If sum1 comprehends the essence..........80's WAS THE BEST PART OF INDIAN TV's "the glory days" !!!
