What kind of lock are you talking about?
Most likely the SSD has gotten corrupt. SSDs contain a built-in controller that manages wear-leveling, error correction, and read/write operations. When something goes wrong (especially as the SSD ages or becomes corrupted) the controller can force the SSD into a "read-only" mode to preserve the data that's still accessible. Flash memory has a limited number of write/erase cycles. When the NAND flash reaches its maximum number of cycles, the controller may set the card to read-only to prevent data loss. It's a lot more common in SD cards than SSDs.

so it's basically paperweight now...

Isn't this the same oscillating tool? Cheaper on amazon - https://amzn.in/d/fZiab85
I was waiting for someone to point this out. What I posted comes with an extra set of accessories and sanding pads (over on top of the basic accessories) that cost another 1K extra. The one on amazon is just the tool with the basic accessories.

@ByteBuzz @kewlboy9 @Anuj333 @princeoo7 and anyone else reading this —
The SSD has an ATA lock, but it is not corrupted.
I'd never sell a damaged or worn-out SSD — that’s just not me.

I am trying my luck... I will use it with my PS3 Super-slim.

You previously mentioned that it was a wrong purchase. So why did you purchase the extra accessories again?

@tapankunu Because I enjoy wasting money for sport, obviously. Thought I’d double down on a bad decision. JK. Didn't it occur to you that I would've bought the accessories at the same time I purchased the tool?
