Guys I am getting following error while opening my external hdd partition.

Please help me out.. I have performed full system scan with Kaspersky 7 ( updated ) but still getting error.

I can open partitions in windows explorer.

What to do ?

looks liek you're affected with a virus.

goto start menu -> run

type "cmd" press enter

type <drive letter>: then enter. for ex, G: then enter

prompt shud say G:\> . Now type "del autorun.inf" press enter

that prob shud go now

try restarting the comp. that thing happens when ther is an "autorun.inf" in the root directory. that file is hidden and system file flagged., so not that easily visible.

most antivirus deletes the virus files, but doesnt remove the autorun file because they dont have virus signature on them. hence you're left with the autorun file and this prob.

thats a worm...the problem may exist even if u get rid of the virus...

do as sunnyboi said...else format the drive if the data aint that important...let others suggest some alternative to formatting either...

in folder options -> view , enable show hidden files, then below remove tick mark for show sytem files.

try in exploer and see if there are any autorun.inf files. sometimes DOS acts up :S

It is nothing but virus.... by any means it will get activated again...

please take help of any strong anti virus remover...

listen kaspy's is a verygood anti virus if it hasn found then don think any other antivirus will..would recomend u to try an online scan wth trend micro.. it's good.. the best..and don disable the show hidden files option cause remember these files are still there.. system restore your comp to a date before this problem appeared.. sure it's a Worm..had a similar problem on my laptop..tht ws after i put in a pendrive infected wth worms..deleted thm thn i scanned the whole system.. wth norton.. din find anyprob..so i just system restored to a previous date..n bingo.. comps workin fine n don hve tht problem n e more
