Just got BSNL EVDO

The advantages of EVDO now :
Reliable constant speeds in bigger cities.
Dynamic IPs, so no more shared IP thing. ON RS just disconnect and reconnect 4/5 seconds and you are ready to download another file.
No more crappy Home and Business plans so it virtually gives me better than 512 Kbps connection at work place which was the main reason I went for EVDO.
Cheap. No more comments on that.
No FUP.
If you are persisting you can go through the cust. services to actual tech guys and persue them to solve your problems. Just be polite and patient.
Let 3G be officially unveiled it will rock as every one is jumping on to the wireless bandwagon. Because its highly unlikely that govt will open up the last mile loop.

PS : this is not the discussion about which service is better (DSL v/s EVDO), this is to improve some minor tweaking in existing connection. Every person has different needs and different budgets so please stay away from flaming war of words.
@linuxtechie : perhaps you are on 550/- plan which is non roaming which could be the reason of your connection not working out side Pune. Because I am also on 550/- plan and my connection is not working outside surat. at few places it works on 1x speeds.

. Will try and contact BSNL people here and see. Don't know what is wrong. The dialer is just not able to dial the connection and it keeps giving the message that the remote computer did not respond. Damn

If you bought the modem, they wont take it back. They will ask you to sell it to another person who is willing to take their shitty connection. Best idea is to post it for sale here. People from places where the EVDO is good might buy it. Chennai has awesome service. I used to get 1.2Mbps even when I had only 2/5 bars of signal strength.
They will refund the deposits that you made, but take their own sweet time. Consider yourself lucky if you get any money back.

I travel between Noida and Amritsar. Would this work in both the locations.

I mean if I buy a one in Noida, and then I use it in Amritsar, arte there any extra roaming charges that i need to pay.
