User Guides K750i to W800i for CID49

Here's a no-hassles guide to flashing the k750i CID49 to W800i.

1. Switch off the phone. Remove the SIM.

2. Download & unrar PhoneXS 2.01 Beta/XS++

3. Install drivers for the Data Cable /If you haven't done so yet/. If you choose the latest SE ones you will need USBFlash Drivers See below for instructions about them.

4. Download CID49 MAIN file. The only avaiable at this moment is W800_R1BC002_MAIN_EU_EMEA_RED49.

5. Start PhoneXS/XS++

6. Click Start

7. After it asks you to connect your phone, press C and then connect the USB cable to the phone in 30 seconds
(Note: it should already be connected to the PC)

If there aren't problems with the flash driver the phone should remain switched off and the phone info should appear on the left.

8. If the 'Flash' radio button isnt already selected, select it!

9. Now enter this settings.

Note: that you only have to select the Firmware(in the 'Main Firmware' path) which you downloaded from the Rapidshare

10. Press flash

11. Now this should appear on the field to the left.

12. It will take some time for it to complete the process, after which you should see this :

basically, you will see an error for flashblock 291, dont worry about it.

13. Now unplug the phone, put your SIM and switch it on. You have W800i in K750i case
FAQ :
i) How to find the CID of the phone?
Ans : Just run XS++ and select start, and upon connecting the phone(which is switched off), you will find the phone details on the left in XS++.

1) I did this process using XS++ for my

K750 phone, and the process worked fine!

2) The log file is saved in the XS++ folder, FYI.
3)
If your phone turns on after you hold C and plug in the data cable.
Download USBFlash Drivers.
Open the archive.

Start PhoneXS, enter settings, start Device Manager /WinKey+Pause-Break or Control Panel=>System=>Hardware=>Device Manager/.

Press Flash button. Hold C, Plug in the cable.
Unrecognised device should appear in Device Manager. Right Click on it with the mouse and select Update Driver.

Point to the directory where you extracted USBFlash Driver. Now close and open again PhoneXS.

4) if there are some problems with communication between the phone and the PC remove the battery and insert it again. (happened to me.....so dont worry)

5) As long as you don't touch Filesystem or Finalization there is no risk of bricking your phone.

6) The screenshots are for PhoneXS, but XS++ is not very different from it.

It works on my K750i CID49.
Great work!

it still uses k750i USB drivers and shows as k750i phone.
but all the W800i features are there.

can I update it using SEUS? just curius
 
So all you mean that if any one FLASH K750i to W800i will get Great sound and cam quality over STOCK K750i firmware.

My question is, what if within WARRANTY period a person with K750i (flash to W800i firmware) visit Service Center

1) Will service center provide service without any question or refuse as the phone has FLASHED?

OR

2) We need to FLASH it again with K750i STOCK Firmware before visiting service center?

firstly, there isnt any noticeable improvement in the flashed k750i when compared to the stock k750i.
all u get is a good mp3 player and the option to start the phone in music mode only (plz add if there are more)

secondly, its all upto the service centre guy...he may choose to ask or he may not choose to ask.
if he doesnt, all's well.
if he does, then it probably means that once you flash the cell, you void its warranty... lol.. (which i think is common for all cells/hardware).

^^ if the service centre guy takes an objection to the flashed cell, then you will obviously need to do this.
heck, i flashed my e398(which crashes a lot more than the k750i) within the warranty period...so flashing the k750i sure seems a very safe bet.

Well, there is a noticable improvement in the sound quality;)
 
Hi

After flashing with w800i firmware, the phone is still identified as K750i. but all the menus and improvements of w800i is there. so its worth.

I tried to use SEUS to update after flasing with w800i.
SEUS restored the R1DB001 back in my k750i. pretty bad!!!
so I flashed it again with w800i firmware. now phone is going great.

so no need to visit Sony Service. just use SEUS to restore your phone firmware.

W800_R1BC002 camera quality is very poor.
sometimes the phone hangs if fast menu operations are carried out
switched back to R1DB001. bad luck
 
damn i got a porblem.. i had done this last year succesfully. now my phone switches on :(.. i even installed the USB drivers when it asked me too... :( what could i be doing wrong?
