Karbonn might finally launch the long rumored Karbonn A24 android smartphone by the same company sometime in the next week or two. The Karbonn A24 has been rumored to arrive since last September, 2012 and it seems that January 2013 is the lucky month to finally receive this new handset. The Karbonn A24 will be a close relative to the Karbonn A21, which many took to be the A24 itself and dismissed the A24 smartphone as a fad altogether. Fresh reports speak otherwise.
Karbonn A24

Karbonn A24 will be one of the few Jelly Bean smartphones to be launched by an Indian manufacturer, and about time it is. The Karbonn A24 will be very similar to the A21. Features and internal specifications will for most parts be the same. Let us summarize what we know about the device.
Karbonn A24 rumored specifications

  • 1.2 GHz dual core processor
  • 512 MB / 1 GB of RAM
  • 4.5" qHD (960 x 540 pixels) IPS display
  • 8 MP rear camera
  • VGA front facing camera
  • 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, proximity and gravity sensor
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Nothing else is known about the device. The chipset might be a Mediatek one or a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play. Honestly, the Mediatek one will be much much faster as it is based on ARM Cortex A9 while the S4 Play is based on an ancient Cortex A5 architecture.

We only hope that Karbonn fits this smartphone with 1 GB of RAM and about 2,000 mAh battery capacity to make this smartphone a real spicy contender among recently launched competing phones such as the iBall Andi 4.5h or the Spice Stellar Mi-495.

The Karbonn A24 will launch for a price tag of around Rs. 11,000 which is entirely decent if all the phone's features turn out the way we are hoping it to be. Here's also hoping this doesn't end up as another 512 MB RAM device thus dismissed by the enthusiast and knowledgeable crowd altogether.

Nope. However it's possible this phone has a Adreno 203 or a PowerVR SGX531 GPU
