I think I pretty much relayed the entire info to you with the title itself but here's a paragraph form for my buddies :P

Karbonn is all set to launch their "phablet" (but 4.5" today is just a normal smartphone) at the end of august. Armed with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, this Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based smartphone is all set to take the market by storm and surprise. At the back is an 8 MP camera with LED flash. Karbonn has added a front facing VGA camera for video calls as well. The phone's 4.5" display will have a good qHD (960x540) resolution, a first for Indian manufacturers, and very impressive too. It is to be believed based on earlier reports for the display to be of IPS make, which is only better.

Karbonn Smart A24 is scheduled to launch by end of August. Expect more news and details between now and then on this device.

*My thoughts:

First of all guys, since I'm a regular writer now, I really need to know how I'm doing. Mind you I've written this news piece here and only here. No where else has this article been published (I mean the writing, the source is given for the news).

Now, I'm really REALLY excited about this handset. Now I'm happy I didn't buy a smartphone already. Would have regretted it, with such a device within grasp now. Thank god it's not a dual-sim (hate those).

I couldn't really ask for more right? It's all there. Those dream specifications. And if the Karbonn A9 is any indication, the design of the device is also set to be similar (and hence, great!).

I personally can't wait for this phone. Hope the dual core chipset is something commonly used, like say a TI OMAP 4460 or Snapdragon S3. That way it will easily get custom ROMs as these chipsets are quite popular (TI OMAP 4460 is on the Galaxy Nexus, and Snapdragon S3 is the most common dual-core used since last year for high-end devices).

Article here

If the build is good then this handset will be a real hotcake in the lower-midrange segment. Hope they deliver on the promise of a good IPS LCD screen since these types of handsets usually have a sub-par display.

I hope yeah it's a 16M color device.

But honestly, this would be the price of the current 22k dual-cores had our exchange rate not gone krazy. Karbonn is making it's own phones (or getting it from China). Either way, if the Karbonn A9 is any indication, I have really really high hopes from this phone.

If this does launch at the end of August with Jelly Bean, it might become the Jelly Bean droid to be sold. A new record in speed considering Jelly Bean hasn't released yet (release date can be marked as release of Nexus 7).

It will surely be a good device, but I have a feeling the build quality will be subpar. Also, it is surely a bit hard to digest.

As for your writing, its pretty good. (y)

It's a great phone. I had a chance to look at it in person (running ICS. not JB) and play with it for a bit. It's light, the screen is good and it has the feel of a high-end phone.

13k wasn't the price they were looking at - in fact the price wasn't even disclosed to us but it was to be 'very competitive' with international brands (read: Samsung). Going by history, they would be about 30% lower than the equivalent top-end phone from Samsung.

What Karbonn lacks is high-end customisation, so the interface will be pretty much stock JB.

yeah, I don't know why brands like Samsung use their crappy SO CALLED UI and spoil the beauty of Stock Android OS :( Specifications looks promising, Even at around 15k this will sell like hotcakes :)

Upto 15k I'm game man I'm game.
@RD274 Dunno who's making it. It seems they are making it themselves. Or we'll find some Chinese OEM later on.

Even the best of phones becomes dud due to the lack of RAM so if has anything below 1GB RAM, I'd not like to go with it.

@paarkhi I'm kinda betting big time on this phone. If this doesn't deliver, I will simply have to wait for WP8 handsets.

And as you know, I'm tired of waiting already.

There are somethings which I have learned over the years :-
1. Nothing is cheap in this world. If it is, there is definitely some cost cutting. One has to figure out which device fulfills requirements.
2. Never go for cheap brands, Initially you will feel that you have got a great deal but they never have longevity. Hence, you will end up purchasing new product pretty soon and will actually end up shelling more money.
3. Android phone are absolute s**t if phone doesn't have updates and good community support. I have seen phones from micromax karbonn having very poor app compatibility. Sometimes even popular software like skype fail to run or crash or fail to deliver desired performance.
App incompatibility becomes even more severe in case of games
Every android phone has few software glitches here and there. If your phone is popular you will be able to get fixes, workarounds.
what will you do with a Ferrari if you don't have empty road? If you don't have fuel? if I give you speed limit of 60?

at 13k its a good buy. I think Karbonn realised that if they produce good phones at a reasonable price they'll sell more than they can manufacture. I believe that the phone will create as much of a sensation as the A9 did. Its amazing how 1 phone changed our perception of the company.
btw...OP...your writings pretty good!

@satan194p you may be right about some phones but since these companies like Spice started making Mi 410 and now Spice Stellar Mi 425 and Karbonn A9, I have come to believe that they can actually make a good mid-high end device.
@ch@ts thanks buddy

I'm eagerly awaiting launch of this phone.

I am posting just my opinion. Something else might work for you.
You can open thread of spice Mi 410 and see how many niggles people had to face. I saw some posts about a micromax phone which was not able to run skype and various other applications because of that shitty mediatek proc.
There are so many different chipsets and proc used in android phone. The question of incompatibility always arises.
I have Atrix 2 which has descent enough community support and performance of skpe on it is not upto the mark so I use viber. I checked xda and all owners have slight niggle with skype.
You will get ultimately bored of flashing, fixing rooting as well. Ultimately someone needs a phone which works without problems. These companies are not able to provide updates( bug fix not android updates). After getting Atrix 2 I got 55mb update of bugfix in just a month.
My 5233 got 4 firmware updates in just one year. Moreover company needs to optimize android for different hardware which these companies are not able to do.
All in all I can say that its not about proc, ram, gpu or whatever. Hardware and software has to work in co-ordination with each other to provide great user experience.

IF these companies use famous (Popular) processor chips (SoC) like Qualcomm, OMAP, etc... then we are good and Indian Devs are making (porting) ROMs for the phone which is released only in India, so not a problem as long as the hardware is good (decent) enough for the software version on the phone.
