A small compromise... go for Samsung.
Do not go near LG...

I have started looking recently for a 32" LCD TV and found a lot of threads here in TE. Dont want to start one more thread on a 32 incher, hence continuing here
Primary Requirement: Watch Cable channels @ a distance of 15-20ft, and occasional Divx Movies. Hence I was mainly looking for HD Ready 32"
Choice: Samsung 32B450 v Sony 32S550A
I had a look at both together in a shop side by side(both HD and SD content). Settings were set similar (to the eye). My impression was that Samsung was able to reproduce deeper black and better shadow details and text looked less pixelated than sony even with SD content. Blue,Green and reds were same and almost undistinguishable.
Hence i was looking at the samsung. But here in TE I read somewhere that samsung uses four different panels and all do not have same performance. Now that has put a doubt into my mind whether to go for samsung or not. Is this the case with Samsung even with 2009 models? If yes, then I might as well settle for the sony.
LCD owners, please post your opinions![]()

So samsumg still uses different panels. And I have no idea what panel I saw on the showroom display.
Only one thing which is makeing me look at samsung is the deeper Black it is able to produce... I felt the sony was producing such deep black, and also the pixelled edges of text.
How would the worst performing panel (in terms of contrast, the IPS panel??) of samsung look as compared to the 32S550A?? I dont care about the input lag as I dont use consoles or Computers to connect to the TV. If the difference is not much, then I might try the samsung gamble
And I could not find much info on the panel difference of samsung. Only TE and one or two other site mentions it..
