Well, my dad finally purchased a lappie for my Mum in the US.

for about 1200 Dollars. It was decided to buy this since June :/....

My only doubt is the performance of the AMD Turion 1.6 Ghz in there.

I read good reviews, and hoped it performs almost like the Mobile AMD 64's.

How was the purchase?

Well, cant do anything about it now, since its already purchased :).'

Oh yeah, and the manager gave us and Extra Carry Bag, External HDD (40GB), and External Floppy Drive. :ohyeah:

This deal was made in June when i was there. It was out of stock for 2 months :|. Can you believe that? lol?....

The AMD Turion performs at par with the Intel Pentium M. No worries!! That baby at 1.6GHz will kick a pentium 4 at 3GHz easily.

Great memory options too! Better than my desktop :( Lol

Dude, the Pentium M pwns the Turion anyday. AMD r0cks at Deskops, but sadly in Mobiles, Intel is still the king.

@ Golden - Nice buy, considering its for general use, it won't be far behind Intel..

Intel rules with mobile processors.
But now what can be done , dont think more enjoy ur new laptop.
I mean let ur mom enjoy the new laptop. ;)

Thanks, i read a few reviews and read that the Turion ML-32 1.8 Ghz, is faster than a Pentium M @ 1.8 Ghz by far. Its faster for all daily usage.

The name Turion sounds lame, until i found out that its just a Rebaged AMD 64 Mobile :D.

Pentium M I think is slightly faster, not to mention much more power efficient, and at 1200$ at a lower price, looking at the dell deals rt now. I would have gone for Intel this time around ;)
 
Well, it wasnt really a choice.

Was in a tight budget. This was the best i could find at that time. Unfortunately the price didnt drop either.
 
Turion 1.6 = P-M 1.5ghz in raw perf, but slighttly lower batterly life.

But its 64bit! So its okay.

but dude WHYY OH WHY did you skimp on a measly 4200rpm hdd!?!?!??!
 
Lucky you.....lucky mum...my mum cannot wait to throw my comps out...:P

And I have already lost some CD's to bad behaviour... when I am bad, a dozen CD's/DVD's are thrown out....

But mum will always be mum and well, what else can I say

memories, thats what came with the System, no upgrades were allowed.

If the performance is pathetic, i will replace it, no doubt.
