I want to lap my stock cooler's base since it's as flat as a spoon. The load temps were over 85degC. I quickly shut down the comp and filed the edges slightly flat using a small steel file I had and the load temps dropped by 15deg.
So now I am looking forward to completely flatenning the base out using sandpapers.
I've asked in all the hardware stores that I know of and the best they have is a ~108 grit emery paper, much less a 400 or 800 grit sandpaper. Where can I find higher grit sandpaper in chennai? Do the automobile painting fellas have them? I asked in one of those shops and they only seem to use some abrasive polish cream stuff, which I am not sure will remove much copper. Any help?
